WildBillKelsoe Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Hello, Today, as I flew the GOW campaign, mission 2, I got shot down 4 times in a row, without using Vikhrs or anything. Two times of these I was shot down by IR SAMs.. I decided to place flares to a single button on my hotas, dispensing heavily and faster than programming, by setting 010 on program. But thats not what this is for. I wonder if SAMs deplete their munitions, and cant fire any longer.. Do utility trucks provide them with SAMs? Should I engage those trucks first? Or are they cosmetic? Further, I appoint my wingman to engage SAMs, and the @#*&@$^!! keeps dying.. :joystick: He also cant detect all targets in the area, unless flying too low (very applicable to MANPADS and other regiment armor) Also, nap of the earth flying was tried today, and I hit the bottom several times, but the last time I hit the bottom, the nosewheel got jammed in place (I bet it happened the first time).. My questions: 1- Radar AI: NOE negates or diminishes your chances of being lased? 2- Breaking high or breaking low? or breaking right and left?? What direction if the missile is coming 12/3/6/9 o'clock?? Interesting as well is the NOE target acquisition. I killed two tanks when I was 7 feet AGL. Had a Mi-24 buzzing over and being engaged by our shilka. Anyways, After so much checking on mission completion %, I found that at first I had a 50% completion. Next came 35%, then came 15%. Does that mean my army is being crushed?? Or is it a bug?? Thanks in advance. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Bushmanni Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Regardless of the direction the missile is coming the safest bet is to put something solid between it and you. Ka-50 can't really manouver to avoid missiles except some ATGMs that are defeated by running away or beaming them. Put out flares and head for cover. If the flares spoof the first missile you may get behind cover before the second reaches you. In order to do this you need to plan your flight route to have always some hills or buildings nearby. If there's no radar SAM threat it's better to fly high in order to see and kill or avoid the IR SAM threats before you fly in their range. Flying NOE risks getting shot through the forest due to flying in WEZ of invisible SAM.
