Madman777 Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 (edited) Hello, I was under the impression that I do not not to re-activate BS if I un-install it and try to re-install it? The registry entry should still be there. I was getting ready to install BS2, so I uninstalled BS 1.2 and tried to re-install BS1.0. Now it's asking me to re-activate? Which kinda screwed me because i don't have any left. Just curious, how long before I can expect to get some more activations? My very sad cause I had the whole weekend booked for BS2 and now I can't do anything. :( Edited November 4, 2011 by Madman777 i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules

PeterP Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 (edited) I also would be happy if anyone of the staff can give me a clear and simple answer on this example: I have BS1 (boxed version 35€) and one activation left... (and lets say I have spent all my deactivations... or lets say my computer crashed and I had no time to deactivate it...) I bought BS2 upgrade (19$) and have 9 activations and +1 every month if I lost al activations.... So I spend roughly 58$ for both... I make very big computer upgrade... How often am I able to install BS2 again? And how many times is someone, who purchased BS-Full (not the upgrade) for 39$, able to install it ? ... Just curious in the answer - because I think there is a little discrepancy here... Because BS2 has the new Star-force activation and BS1 still the old with out automatic refreshment. So I would assume I have so many activations for BS2 like I have for BS1. And a automatic refreshment will not help at all in my example if I have bought the upgrade. ...and I will have to bother you sooner or later with a support ticket...! Please answer! EtherealN Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 (edited) AAA still has the 8 and 10 for activations/deactivations. Note though that the refill only goes once - so once empty, clock starts and 30 days later you get a new one. The clock then stops. (If you then use that activation, clock starts again. This can continue until the end of the universe.) Installs themselves should not be an issue. There are some cases where software (mainly VM's and similar applications) can confuse the system. Note that for the patch, you do not have to uninstall 1.0.2, you can archive it so to speak. Just install 1.0.0 or 1.0.1 (the latter worked fine for me). Also note that even if it asks for activation, it might not actually deduct it - what happens is that it'll ask for your key to activate if it doesn't find a resident activation, and then start talking to the server. At this point, it sends a hardware code (think of it as a hash for the components on your machine) and if it matches close enough to what the server has logged for you, it will activate again WITHOUT deducting an activation. This is, however, where VM's and similar can cause havoc - the system is completely without drivers and has no special priviliges (for your security and privacy), and can thus not differentiate between real and simulated hardware. Madman, feel free to enter a support ticket through the website to have your BS1 key looked at. I don't know how fast it will be handled though, weekend and backlog etcetera. But even if you go for the full version (thanks for the support, sorry for the inconvenience though) you are welcome to get your BS1 problem handled. However, if you stopped the process upon getting the activation prompt but without completing the prompt, please try it again. You might get a message saying "already activated, continue?" :) Again, apologies for the inconvenience. PeterP Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) ;)- so the question is: "will I get"? Would be a good addition if everyone that could prove that he/she has purchased a BS1 copy could "upgrade" once again to a AAA-Version standalone BS2. And don't have to worry about thinks like this.
