Hi folks,

please help me to figure this out. Searching the forums didn´t help.

In the ME I made a mini-mission with my A-10C, a Tunguska and a friendly F-16C flight. The F-16s have HARMS, EPLRS active and a SEAD task. Their route is outside the engagement range of the Tunguska.

Now I want to call them in on the Tunguska, which I found via TGP and which is SPI.

I understand it has to do with p.322 in the manual, but I can´t get it to work.

Steps I made: Move TAD cursor to F-16, "SEND" appears, I press "SEND", their network-ID appears.

Then I don´t know what to do next. Can´t do "Set the SPI to the location of the TAD symbol that you wish to assign as the target." as written in the handbook. How to do this?

What do you want to do, do you 1. want them to automatically take out any SAMs, or 2. do you want them to wait until you request them over the radio? :)

1. Is easy and a matter of the ME. No problem.

2. That´s what I want them to do. Follow their flightplan until I call them.

Possible?

BTW: How do I call in CAP?

You have to create the CAP and SEAD flights in the ME, as well as triggers to have them do these tasks. It's not too difficult, but will require some intermediate-level ME work (triggers, flags, etc). To "call them in", you'll have to create a flag with an "add radio item" to add the call to the F-10 radio menu, then use that flag as the trigger for the SEAD and/or CAP flights you created. See the mission editors corner forum for help on this, and I suggest reading the GUI manual.

As far as I know, using the SEND command in TAD to do anything with the AI flights won't do anything, though I only fly multiplayer. We use it in MP all the time to share targets, of course.

Okay. You cannot actually use the A-10 systems to do this. In RL you or command would call them in over radio. In the ME there is an option to "add radio message" that the user can select. This will set a flag you pick. What you can do is have a "Start SEAD" or something that sets flag 1, and then tell your SEAD flight to perform the "Hold" task with the stop condition that flag 1 is set. This way, they will anchor until you tell them to enter the area and kill the SAM. Naturally, the waypoint after the one with the hold task, you should create a waypoint that has a "EngageGroup" or similar task to kill the SAMs you want.

What I've done that seems to be more "real world" like is to create a flight plan for the SEAD flight using one or more waypoints that gets them in range of the SAMs. Make sure one of the waypoints is outside the SAM engagement area.

Now in the ME, using the Advance Waypoint Actions, add "Perform Task" - "Orbit" to that point with a "Stop Condition" User flag number (be sure to use a flag number not already in use.)

Now in the triggers. Set "On Mission Start" then in the Action column choose "Add Radio Item" put any text you want in the text area ie. "Cleared Hot to engage SAM's" add the "Flag" number that you set in the "Stop Condition" before and set the Coalition to the same side as the SEAD flight.

Now on Mission start, under F10 in the "Other" comm menu you will have a numbered selection "Cleared Hot to engage SAM's" that you can select to get your SEAD flight to stop orbiting and continue on their original flight path. As long as their actions was set to SEAD for the flight, they will engage any threats along the route.

One other thing you can do is in the Triggers, do a "Once" Flag Is True (number you chose for the stop condition and radio item) "Send Msg to Coalition" set your coaltion color and then enter the message ie. "SEAD flight pushing from holding pattern" What that does is give you confirmation that they are on the way.

Hope that helps.
