Pyroflash Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 To whomever may read this, the date is November 13, 1946. German sabotage of key American and Russian research projects has completely destroyed any hope for a timely completion of the Manhattan project. Allied development of nuclear technology has been delayed for the forseeable future. As such, the United States was forced to invade mainland Japan in an attempt to quickly crush any remaining resistance. What followed was unexpected resistance.. and the worst defeat in American history. President Roosevelt's death could not have come at a worse time, and his death sowed the seads for anti-war fervor to spring up. That, and the Second Great Depression. Even with new failsafes in place, the continuing drain on government resources and the President's death ultimately put too much stress on an economy that had just recovered; resulting in an untimely re-lapse. With the German threat gone, the Allied nations sent aid, and with the withdrawal of all Allied forces from the Pacific, it looked as if the economy was going to stabilize, even if the Japanese threat was not completely dealt with. The result was a complete Japanese takeover of the entirety of Manchuria and part of Eastern Russia. With the added resources that these regions provided to the Empire, the Japanese quickly rebuilt their massive Pacific Naval Fleet, and they were out for blood. No longer were the majority of their ships wooden and made with scarce resources, the new IJN was a state of the art fleet, equipped with motivated crew and technology that was years ahead of its time. They quickly crushed the remaining American occupation in the Pacific, and within three months arrived at Pearl Harbor. This time the Japanese were here to stay as the American Naval base there found themselves completely helpless against the might of the entire IJN. It wasn't a battle, in fact, not a single shot was fired. Instead the entire island's population surrendered.. and was flown to and marched straight into the open mouth of active volcano Mauna Loa in what was Japan's act of revenge for the people of Saipan, who voluntarily marched themselves off of a cliff rather than face American occupation. Another three weeks and the Japanese answered the worst fears of the United States. They have taken complete control of the western seaboard. Now, over the skies and sands of Nevada we fight. To the last man.. to the last breath.. to the last drop of blood. -------------------------------------- Or at least that's kind of how I worked out the introduction of Nevada and 'DCS: Flying Legends' in my head. If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
