WildBillKelsoe Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 (edited) Ok, I want to buy the BS2 so bad, but I already have steam's BS1. I want the upgrade for the same price on steam. Apparently, Mr. Mat has some issues with steam, and I dont blame him. But for the love of me, I want to know the final verdict on giving steam sale rights to BS2. Yes I know it has been discussed in this thread, and I wish it was announced final. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80923 On a seperate note, is NOE flying really modelled into fooling enemy SAM systems in the game? BS1? how about 2? Cuz I've tried it, and unfortunately, the hellfire missile fired by the Apache seems to be TV guided, and hence totally unfair when the stupid wingman cant attack the bandit, even though he discovers them. What is the designation for the airborne targets on datalink? is it other (DL3) or AA/SAM (DL2)? Noob question for an old timer no less, but bear with me please. EDIT: If I successfully paint an airborne target for the wingman and now he has it, will he get updated ABRIS icon moving with the target provided I keep rangefinding on and keep him locked on my shkval? :P Edited November 23, 2011 by WildBillKelsoe AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. EtherealN Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Ok, I want to buy the BS2 so bad, but I already have steam's BS1. I want the upgrade for the same price on steam. Apparently, Mr. Mat has some issues with steam, and I dont blame him. But for the love of me, I want to know the final verdict on giving steam sale rights to BS2. You seem to have a very strange understanding of why BS2 is not on Steam. What I can say is: if it was up to ED, it would probably be on Steam. If things change, it might be on steam, but right now it's not possible. Feel free to complain (in a polite manner) to Valve about your inability to purchase BS2 on their platform. On a seperate note, is NOE flying really modelled into fooling enemy SAM systems in the game? BS1? how about 2? To be honest, I don't understand what you are trying to ask. NOE flying fooling SAM systems being questionable due to Hellfire missiles launched from helicopters? What exactly do you mean by fooling SAM systems? The SAM system not detecting you when you are terrain masked? Of course. I don't see the tie-in to Hellfires though. The SAM system not detecting you when you are terrain masked? Of course. I don't see the tie-in to Hellfires though. Its my bad, I'm sorry I mixed two in one: 1- Hellfires cant be fooled by flares, and the mere fact that its fire and forget by the gunner in the Apache is not fair compared to a single seat, constant tracking chopper like the shark. Is there a way to fool the hellfire specifically, or a flight maneuver that will cause it to near miss? Like going towards it, then banking hard or going away from it and pulling up hard? 2- Is Nap of the Earth flight modelled in game to fool enemy tracking? (like BF3 below radar?) where they cant lock or keep track if my HUD AGL is 007 and speed under 100 KIAs? And if not modelled, what is the tactical speed I should have to conveniently turn the shark to an aerobatic monkey and fight the missile? Thanks EtherealN for all the help. GGTharos Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 There is no speed at which a helicopter can be an aerobatic monkey and dodge a missile. Fool it or die. As for hellfires - lots of high speed crossing aspect is the only way. So what if it is unfair? War is not fair, the shark is not a modern heli, and apaches have the advantage. Deal with it :) Low altitude problems for SAMs are modeled, but not all SAMs are subject to this, just like in RL. If you are looking to fly right by SAMs at low altitude without getting shot at, you are looking to get shot down. Guys, guys.... I know that in time ED and steam will get along just fine, but if not, I have the other bitter solution for me exactly to save a couple of months and be an uptight monk in terms of money, and the whole BS2 will be purchased.
