I have to keep the throttle at 100% pretty much the whole mission except when circling or in a dive (gun run's, CCIP run's).

Does anybody else feel the need to be full power for most of the flight? Its hard to believe the hog is so under powered. I'm not flying with a ridiculous weapon load out, normally about 50-70% fuel and standard load is 2 mav's and 2-4 gbu's/cbu's. I never exceed 80-85% max aircraft weight. Any input would be appreciated.

To be honest, i usually fly 100% until I get to my desired altitiude, then as I approach my point of attack, i slow down to 80% for a few reasons.

1. You find targets easier from a bit further back, where your TGP has a nicer wider field of view, so you can plan out your attack better.

2. Allows you to get into a flight pattern around the AO and not speed around it in 300knots, especially if you are trying to focus on one target and you need your head in the pit to do some stuff on the TAD or DSMS or whatever, that way by the time you are ready, you dont overshoot the area.

3. Saves fuel

If you are operating at less than 10 thousand feet then you might feel the need to fly at full speed, but honestly when you go above 15 thousand, to like 20 thousand, there is no point to it, you will fly roughly 200 knots and cruise around, and be slow enough where you have the time of the world to do whatever you want up there.

So yeah, on low altitude missions, go full throttle, on high altitude ones, go full throttle till you get near it, then slow down a bit and appreciate life on the slow lane. Maybe read a book or a poem or something lol.

A-10C isnt really a speed hog. cruise speed is 300 knots. Though in the sim i hardly go over 250 knots. However when iam taking off with a wingmen it always seems the wingmen has more thrust then me. He climbs faster etc (though i saw him go warp speed once at the take off strip to catch up -.-)

Personally i dont think it is even bad to go 100% throttle. (but i always go 80-90% gives me enough climbrate anyways) The engines are quiet good and if you look at the RPM % is never goes over 90% so I think you are not even pushing the engines that hard.

You need only about 30-50% throttle to keep the hog flying depending on your loadout. Of course your going to be going very slow at that point but also for a very long time. I use max power mostly for take-off and also for climbing when not in formation but for everything else it's better to use less to conserve fuel and get considerably more time over target. Usually I use about 80% which keeps me between 200 and 250 knots when circling over target and dropping ordnance. If I know there's a chance I might be dodging missiles or something similar I would use full throttle.
