Euan3251 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Hi all, i have completed a clean install of new patch 1.1.1.1 and created my own mission :) with SEAD , CAS and Tanker (KC135) given a waypoint and set waypoint to Orbit ... after completing i tries to locate tanker only to find a fireball in the side of a Mountain, i also had 2 F16 (CAS) and both just disappeared i think to the same fate .. is this a known issue, have searched around with no joy... I also noticed that when F16 etc.. reach waypoint set to orbit they first report RTB than report onsite and seem to have different variants in how to orbit as sometimes they make a turn and continue for miles in another direction, or there may be a new option to set at the waypoint that i am unaware ... Any help or advise :(
SmokeyTheLung Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Not sure about your second question, what altitude are you setting the tanker at? System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
Euan3251 Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 They are set at default 6562 feet, but if i remember correctly from previous patch would automatically adjust height around the terrain (fly higher to avoid collision) 2nd question in short is when set to Orbit at waypoint they dont orbit in (circle Pattern) they make small turns and then go straight
Jona33 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 They should but they're awful at it. They pitch up far too fast with full power and then dive. Basically they detect hills to late. Set a tanker to fly around 18000, more efficient up there. With a racetrack orbit selected you need to have another waypoint which is where they fly racetrack too. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Supersheep Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Oh, and remember to control the speed of the tanker at that altitude. IIRC, its indicated and not true or ground speed. This messed up a tanker in a mission I helped builld recently, he dropped to about 160 knots -> uncool. Supersheep The PVC Pipe Joystick Stand How to thread
