PlainSight Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I'm spending my days with Orbiter 2010, lots of new stuff out since last time i've played it, most important are DX9 graphics, and updated XR vessels. I've also figured out how to export MFDs to secondary display and use them with TM cougar pack. I have 4 external MFDs open and with DX9 client, no FPS loss. FPS drop was the main issue before, but now this game really flies and it's better than ever. You do need some time to collect all must-have addons, kinda like in FSX, but since everything is free, it's not such a problem. So that would be my suggestion, even though it's a space sim. JCook Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I've flown FS9 and FSX for years. I wouldn't bother with the default MS aircraft - there are some very nice third party add-ons for aircraft and scenery. Some third party aircraft do a pretty good job emulating real world flight characteristics but you can only go so far within the Microsoft sims. I don't find FS9/FSX very good for practicing manuevers or pattern work - however they can be useful for radio navigation and Instrument procedure practice.
