tried setting a few speeds for the kc135 tanker , from 200 up to 240 kts...altitude between 10,000 and 15,000ft...zero wind

same is set at each waypoint

but he always flies along at 185kts

anyone else get this?

Way slow. Put you in the editor at 15000 air start. Start and hit autopilot. Set throttles to get the speed you want, then stabilize. Once its not changing and I mean not at all, go to the F-10 view and it will show your TAS (true airspeed), you can also set the hud to TAS, either way. But yeah that is what you need to set your tanker to. I seen somewhere tankers usually for A-10's around 220-230 or so and at my optimum alt of 18000 depending on weather that comes out to around 300 knots true. At least in my testing.

As Wildfire mentions, the AAR speed for the A-10 is 220KIAS.

The quickest and easy way to work out the required TAS for a given altitude is with a bit of simple maths.

To maintain a set IAS you must increase TAS by roughly 1.8% for every 1000ft in altitude.

So at 15000ft, 220 x 0.018 x 15 + 220 = 279.4

So if you set the tanker speed to 280 KTAS in the editor it's IAS will be 220.

Make sure you set the desired airpseed and altitude correctly in the orbit task, if you have the tanker set to orbit in the advanced task options.
