I have various questions on this topics

1. Are there different types of trains ie passenger and cargo trains that run

2. is there a way to determine what train will be at a certain destination by a certain time, so an attack on it can be included in a mission ?

Thanks for your help on this in advance

Trains are static objects only and do not run. Although you can have CIV traffic trains you don't control them. There are different coaches you could have a stationary train but not a moving one.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

So are you saying moving trains are not seen on here? I just remember reading that FC1 had trains and timetables somewhere

You cannot place your own trains that move. If you enable civilian traffic in the options menu you will sometimes see trains appear but as far as I know they are random. Using the static objects menu it is possible to have a "stopped train".

They are not random, they do in fact follow timetables (in relation to mission start time I suspect). Some train parameters can be configured in a lua file, like number of carriages and speed. I don't now how civ setting on high vs low affect the trains though.

So making a mission where a train is at a certain place at a certain time is possible, but you can't force civ setting on player. meaning it will only work reliably for your self...
