metalnwood Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 (edited) I saw this on the iracing forums and it looked interesting. People who has used it say the feeling is very real and as I sit in my seat and think about the forces on my body through various maneuvers I can imagine that this would work fairly well. The size of it makes me think an approach like this is ideal for cockpit builders like us because we surround ourselves with panels our only real option is a motion sim moving our entire setup, cockpit and all. Well beyond what most of us can achieve. This sits there statically while giving us the feel. Here are a couple of vids from an earlier model that was using timber for the pads. I believe there are around 12 servos driving it all, the pads are on hinges with three servos tilting each panel, they look like oversized rc servos. Edited January 8, 2012 by metalnwood
KLR Rico Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 It's an amazing idea. It's easy to underestamate how much of our spatial awareness comes from "the seat of the pants". How likely are we to see this in our pits? Does DCS support feeding the data this kind of thing would work from? i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
