USB Numerical pad for UFC?

I'm in the middle of winter cleaning at our house and I found and old USB numerical pad designed for use with laptops. I figured it would be a easy way to use as a UFC but ran into some issues.

 

First, when I tried to map the keys, it wanted to map all of them to NUMLOCK. So I tried mapping them without the numlock on - but then 5 wouldn't map. So I ended up getting it work buy assigning CDU 1 to NUM1 and so forth. It seems to work - sort of.

 

In the sim when the CDU is on and I use the USB numerical pad, numbers I punch in come up great. But when I try to use the function button it doesn't work. I'm pressing the function button on the UFC in the sim (since I don't know what key it maps to) and then the number on the numerical pad. All that does it puts the number in the CDU. I tried just doing it in the sim like always (hit func then a number) and it worked. So somehow I didn't map my keys right.

 

So two questions - what do I need to do to map it work with the function button? What is the function button called in the control menu. There wasn't anything that said CDU FUNC in there.
