Mathias Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Hi, Ive spend some time to set up each controler the way I want it, and recently Ive reinstalled Windows due to a Hardware upgrade. Now I had to do the same thing over again, how can I backup the controler setup(s?)? "Make txt" doesnt MAKE a .txt it just links to the directory where all the default profiles are stored. "Save profile as" doesnt create a file that i see. So Im kinda confused.

spikenet Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 All of your configs are stored in C:\Users\<yourname>\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Config. so what is the "save profile as" supposed to be used for? I take your answer to suggest you just backup that config DIR and restore it when you do a re-install to get your configs back?

The default location, when you use the 'Save Profile' button, is in that folder as well. If you do not use the 'Save Profile' option, the controller profiles currently in use, with or without changes, are in that folder under their default locations and filenames. As far as a reinstall goes...uninstalling the sim will not remove that folder anyway. spikenet Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 yeah true, but a common fix for problems is deleting that folder. I just find it a bit confusing to know the "best" way to backup these files to save time when you have a problem/re-install etc.
