wonkotron Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) Bug description: Periodically while playing, the game locks up. Sometimes the screen goes black as well. Before the game is able to be played again, a Windows notification pops up saying that "the Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered." The game does not crash to desktop, but this event can occur multiple times during gameplay. Steps to reproduce / Conditions of occurrence: The fastest/easiest way to reproduce this bug is to go to an external view, zoom all the way out, and move the mouse around rapidly to force the game to draw things very quickly. It can occur while simply flying. In addition, my display driver has locked up multiple times while I was Alt-Tabbed out writing this report (KA-50 idling on FARP). PC Configuration: Intel Core I5, 8gb RAM, Radeon HD 7950 3gb (8.921.2-120119a-132101E-ATI) Corsair 520W Power Supply Windows 7 64-bit Attachments: N/A Troubleshooting Steps Taken: Remove all traces of old drivers, then reinstall graphics driver Reinstall game Move one of the card power supply connectors to a different 12V rail Increase card fan speed to 100% Reinstall Windows Change in bug: When all settings set to low, the graphics driver keeps responding, but DCS.exe crashes. wonkotron Posted February 5, 2012 Author Posted February 5, 2012 Possible Solution: Ensure that Fullscreen mode is checked in the graphics options.
Slap_Chop Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Upgrading your computer power supply could help with this problem. I had a similar problem with Crysis game and if I underclocked my video Card using MSI Afterburner software the problem would go away. I deduced the game was causing the Vid card to draw more power than the Power supply was capable of providing. Try MSI afterburner software and underclocking http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm . If that helps then you could consider the power supply. I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy and I've had both. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
JG14_Smil Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 What version of drivers are you using for your 7950? Early drivers for my 7970 had the problem you are mentioning.
mmaruda Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 It's a well known issue, has to do with power saving, not PSU or drivers. Check if there is an option in the drivers to always run the card on maximum performance. Also go to control panel, power options, enter you power plan settings, then advanced and look for an option like PCI Express and make sure it's turned off. That should resolve the issue. Worked for me at least.
