Hey guys, hope someone can help.

I have just upgraded to Black Shark 2 after having no problems with the original program, however when I try and play the simulator the cockpit view is fully zoomed in and quite choppy.

When I try to zoom out it has an intermitant effect in that it either zooms out but snaps straight back to the zoomed in view or it doesn't zoom out at all.

I have tried it with Trackir 5 and without and altered resolutions and aspect ratios etc. but nothing is fixing it.

Anyone had the same problem??

I am running a core i5 at 4ghz with 4Gb memory on Windows 7 64bit.

Graphics are a Radeon 6850.:joystick:

Sounds like something is spamming the zoom in command. I agree, check your control config especially if your stick/throttle has any toggle/non-momentary switches.

I use a TrackIR and I get a problem where if I use the zoom (num / and num *) and then reset using num enter, the view will no longer zoom out fully. This was a pain because often I want to zoom in more than is possible with the TrackIR and my head.

I solved this by mapping the zoom axis command to one of the anologue knobs on my throttle. So I no longer need to use /, * and Enter.

Not sure whether this relates to your problem or not but it seems to be in the same ballpark.

Thanks for the advice (which I should have thought of!!)

I have an x52 joystick that had assigned itself a slider to the zoom key.

Thanks again.

Just assign the zoom to your rudders wheelbrake. Its great for simulating, braking with no seatbelt :megalol:

Yes. I use zoom like that too. But actually I'm not sure that if I'm happy with that. And you're right. As you said, sometimes it conflicts with zoom setting set by keyboard.

After using zoom via slider, I set the slider to minimum. And then I click/press on the "wheel" (on the X52-Collective) to reset zoom distance (like pressing Enter on Numpad).

Yea, that's not practicaly or not easy way to use.

Also, if you leave the slider in the middile, cockpit camera is mostly trembling. And this kills the enjoyment of the game.

So... I have no any suggestion. Actually I always use the "wheel" on the Collective for zooming. Using the slider is a rapid/quick tool for max zoom in action. :)

You can try setting up a deadzone. I have a curve set so that when it is centred, the zoom is quite far out - and a big deadzone. Now it only trembles when it is not in its central position.

Good idea. I'll try "User Curve" thing.

Thanks Puddlemonkey.

It's OK. I've tuned my slider for zoom function.

Muppett; I think, curving is the best solution for trembling. And you can create deadzone as Puddlemonkey said.

That's best setting for me. "30" is equal to the center position (Enter/NumPad).

you can do so much with curves in the configuration! This is my favourite zoom setting for my X-52's slider, which is more than a little jittery with the default curve:

This gives you 5 distinct steps of zooming. You can adjust the maximum levels of zoom in and zoom out with the Saturation Y setting. I can't take any credit for the idea, someone posted it regarding Flaming Cliffs a very long time ago and I can't remember who.

I had the same problem with my X52. Turned out there was a buildup of dust or "something" in my controller. I sprayed the base of the controller where the stick goes into the base with contact cleaner, and Voila, no more problem. My issue was it was zooming in and out uncontrollably...very annoying, but with a quick shot of contact cleaner, happy times are back

Great! Going to try this out, atm I only have 3 levels, so this would be the perfect solution for this!
