SALT Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Hello, I was wondering if it's possible to add BlackShark 2 to the Steam version of BlackShark? THank you. :pilotfly:
mrbobo Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I downloaded it the other day, both Black Shark 2 and BackShark seem to have seperate folders and exe's. The one I run from steam uses the Blackshark exe and the one I run from the folder uses the Blackshark2 exe. But yea, if you are running steam it works.
pixelpilot Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 i agree with mrbobo. plus some extra info for anyone who wonders about it. my original black shark was not on steam. When i upgraded to BS2 (from ED site) the install went to it's own folder and at no point during the installation was i asked for a serial for the original BS (there is probably a registry entry that let my BS2 upgrade know that I have the original BS. I have now uninstalled the original BS and BS2 still works fine. 2nd point is that my DCS A10 was on steam and i have recently downloaded A10 from the ED website and activated it using the serial number from my Steam one. Now i dont need to run steam to play A10. With these 2 points in mind I am sure a BS2 upgrade would recognise that you own BS1 (even if its on Steam) then you could uninstall your steam version of BS1 and succesfully continue using your BS2 without steam.
BigfootMSR Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 The answer to this question is yes. I bought BS on steam. Upgraded it to BS2 through this website. SALT Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 How's BlackShark 2 look? The game play is already great, but has the textures and other visuals been updated to look really good, or does it still look a decade old? Thanks for all the info.
Nate--IRL-- Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Basically BS2 got all the graphical improvements that DCS:-Warthog got. There still parts that would be considered a Work in Progress however, like some legacy models etc.. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
SALT Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 Thanks for input. Are there any new features that really impress you? Also, how does it run on modern PCs, and are there any troublesome graphic settings that should be turned off?
BigfootMSR Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Thanks for input. Are there any new features that really impress you? Also, how does it run on modern PCs, and are there any troublesome graphic settings that should be turned off? To be honest, going from black shark to BS2, I was completely thunderstruck about the graphical improvements. Its like night and day. I'm not sure about low end modern day comps, (mine is quite a machine) but its runs smooth as glass. I have no complaints about it, and highly recommend it. Jona33 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 It just really a graphics patch / "upgrade" so the game looks a lot better tho it pretty much halved the frame rates. It runs ok on a modern PC , i5 2500K @ 4.2Ghz + overclocked GTX580 gives me about 40-45 fps average at 1920 x 1200 Gives me about 15 and is still awesome. (My comp.'s poor as hell though.) Post your specs and we can tell you better. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
