pardos Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I got some fps after this... open C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Config\options.lua with notepad++. change: shadows=0 lights=0 effects=1 (This NOT 0!!!) Other settings such as water or heatblr or MSAA or mirrors or HDR all 0 or low from the ingame options menu.
ralfidude Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 So what exactly was done here? Shadows removed and...? [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
Kenan Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Soooo...does completely disabling shadows improve framerate? Anyone tried this? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Commanding Officer of: 2nd Company 1st financial guard battalion "Mrcine" See our squads here and our . Croatian radio chat for DCS World
WarthogSmurf Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 You can disable shadows in the ingame GUI right ? I disable the tree shadows because for a A-10C i dont find that very important (plus my machine is not up to the task)
leafer Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Used to be when you set water to zero, you gain load of fps. Setting water to zero does nothing now. I think they need to sticky all the tweak in one thread. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
ralfidude Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 They have. Also, disabling shadows apparently is a 50-50% chance of working. It is recommended you put shadows to maximum and it apparently helps FPS. [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
pardos Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 I had 15 fps on ranway, training mission with mavericks and after that I have 22 fps. I think the lights off is the one that gives some fps.
Tornado_Pilot Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Does setting the water to zero really giving you that much more fps?
Bandit47th Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I can confirm that setting the following in the lau options does make a big difference on my machine. Shadow, haze, water, lights, to 0. Effects to 1. Ingame grafic settings are textures high scences high traffic med distance med For those with ATI cards go to services and turn off AMD external events utility. My Rig I7 950 ASUS X58 Sabertooth MB 6 Gig 1600mhz ATI 6870 Intel 40 gig ssd boot Intel 160 gig gaming 1 tb hd for storage creative sound card Avg frame rate are 40 on ground to 120 in air no studdering. Haze and lighting seem to have the biggest increase atleast for me.
neverminded Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I can confirm, that this tweak helps. At least for a short time. After standing 10-15 minutes on the ground, my frames drop from 40 to 30 or less.
ellimari Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Thanks pardos! I can confirm too that this works. The biggest effect for me was changing to: lights=0 Before that, my frame rate went down to ~15 while standing on the ground and aircrafts taxiing around me. Now (with an FPS limiter in place), my FPS are kind of steady around 30.
