Wichid Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Hey guys, I think something is wrong with my controls or I'm not getting it. It seems the tail wheel is totally free running but when I try to move I either turn sharply left or sharply right. I pull aft on the stick and it makes not difference. It's totally unsteerable. Any ideas? Lyndiman AMD Ryzen 3600 / RTX 2070 Super / 32G Ram / Win10 / TrackIR 5 Pro / Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals
sobek Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 When you put the stick forward, the wheel starts to coaster free. Until you get it into the neutral position with stick back, it won't lock in place. You can only steer with the wheel when it is locked. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Wichid Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Ah i just re-read the taxiing section and it says full forward! Nevermind! Lyndiman AMD Ryzen 3600 / RTX 2070 Super / 32G Ram / Win10 / TrackIR 5 Pro / Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals
sobek Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 No, when you put the stick forward, you unlock the wheel. :) You have to keep it locked to be able to steer. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Wichid Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 ah but it can only do 6degrees whilst locked. Do you use differential braking to steer when it's free running? EvilBivol-1 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Yes, you should use differential braking for directional control when the tail wheel is unlocked (free castering, stick held forward). - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
_Heater_ Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 you can also use the brakes for steering Simulatori: DCS A-10C II Warthog - DCS F/A-18C Hornet - DCS F-16C - VRS F/A-18E - HOTAS: TM Warthog - Cougar \ HP Reverb G2 \ WinWing Panels Tally: I see the degenerate commie who wants to ruin our day.
sobek Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 ah but it can only do 6degrees whilst locked. Do you use differential braking to steer when it's free running? Yes, that or the rudder force generated by slipstream (which is very weak and will only help to initiate turns, not to stop them). Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa!
