RodBorza Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Hello all, I am having a problem when pitching up aircraft. I tried this on the A-10, P-51D and Su-27 modules, and the problem seems to be the same: if I pull-up gently on the stick, the aircraft will start to climb, no problem. They will start to climb, but not enough to make a looping. If I am on flight level and try to pull all the way up on the stick, the aircraft start to pitch up to a certain point, afterwards, the climb is locked, and a rolling movement is induced, and I lose control entirley. And it is very dificult to get back to level flight, since the pitch up movement locks and the induced roll happens again and again. I've never had this problem before, I started to notice it ater installing DCS World 1.2.2.0. I uninstalled it and installed the new patch (1.2.2.1), but the problem persists. What is really bothering me is that it is happening with the A-10 as well. Both of the times, when installing DCS World, I tried to install the P-51D Mustang first. Maybe that caused something that messed up the .lua files somewhere. Or it is user/pilot induced error, I don't know. I've tried to change joystick, reinstalling, commanding the aircraft solely by keyboard, re-calibrating on Windows, setting FF to zero and changing the axis curvature to no avail. The problem persists. Attached are two tracks that show what happens. When I try full cursor to pitch up, the problem appears. I try both with the joystick and keyboard. RodBorza Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 (edited) Nate, No, it doesn't. Pushing all the way forward on the stick doesn't make the control stuck. I'm even being able to make some "forward loopings", no problems. The problem shows up when I push the stick back all the way. The aircraft start to climb, then suddenly stops, and rolls. It happens on all three DCS modules: the P51D, A-10 and Su-27T. I tested my controls on Microsoft Filght and they are working perfectly. My setup is this: - Win 7 Service Pack 1, 64 -bit. - A CH pedal, gameport, using a USB adapter to use it on Win 7. Tried to play the game with it uninstalled, but the problems persists; - A Trust Predator 4-axis, 12-button USB joystick. It is a generic joystick, but has been working well, and I don't have this problem on other games; - A CH Pro Throttle USB. This is new, got it two days ago. RodBorza Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Just as a note to let it to be registered, in case anyone else has the same problem. I changed my pitch axis settings to the following: - Curvature = 0; - Y saturation to 80. I found out that Y saturation is more important than curvature for controller response. Changing the curvature only makes it worse, because makes the control to respond in a exponential manner. And that's what you don't want when you are stalling the aircraft with only a small input in pitch. By keeping the curvature linear and bringing the Y saturation to a lower value, it does helps countering the saturation. The same kind of adjustment on the Y axis helped adjusting slew speed for the sensors on the A-10 and Su-27. This is an amazing sim! 'Nuff said!:pilotfly: YouTube: SloppyDog
