MemphisBelle Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 (edited) hello ED and possible Moderators and or Administrators. By watching the Forums Frontpage I noticed that someone sepereated the DCS Mig 21 thread and placed that one as a thread (with also same name) in the newly created "Third Party Projects" Cathegory. This is confusing since there´s a subforum missing now where other 3rd Party projects can be placed in. How shall new 3rd Party devs know how to start a Forum like that one, since it isn´t possible as it would need to be created by an Administrator. So I recommend to rename the main Forum "DCS MiG-21Bis "Fishbed" to somethings more common and also create several subforums right in there, whose names could be somethings have like placeholdernames. Probably 3rd Party Devs could than place their projects right in one of these and ask a Moderator/Administrator to rename that subforum then.... right now It is easy for me to get all information about the Mig 21. But other Devs could get a "keep out" feeling now. Memphis Edit: (uups...wrong Forum can that be moved to a more proper forum please? ) Edited May 7, 2012 by MemphisBelle BlackSharkDen | BSD Discord | DCS Tutorial Collection
PeterP Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 (edited) I was pleased to see that there is no option to open new threads/topics beside the Mig... Beczl's Mig-21 seems to be in a stage that is worth mentioning and - ready for announcement. And it has all key-elements that makes it worth to be called a DCS family member. We have already the Mods and Apps section that is full of mods that never made it . But other Devs could get a "keep out" feeling now.Every Dev can contact Wags/Jimmack to discuss their project and let it evaluate for a DCS tag. -That's the protocol. I think it much better this way, than seeing every day a new announcement about something that maybe isn't worth mentioning at all. Edited May 7, 2012 by PeterP
EtherealN Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 How shall new 3rd Party devs know how to start a Forum like that one, since it isn´t possible as it would need to be created by an Administrator. They don't. They talk to an administrator and/or community manager prioor to making their announcement... ;) Probably 3rd Party Devs could than place their projects right in one of these and ask a Moderator/Administrator to rename that subforum then.... You seem to assume that 3rd parties have no communication with TFC/ED, which is incorrect. ;) right now It is easy for me to get all information about the Mig 21. But other Devs could get a "keep out" feeling now. I don't see any other developers that have active licensing agreements with TFC/ED that have decided to make their projects public. No-one is being left out. What I suspect you don't quite understand is that a "3rd Party" isn't just a fancy renaming of "modder". The 3rd party products are commercial projects, with everything that comes along with that. ;) Modders can still use the Mods and Apps section.
