Are there any replacement skins for some of the worse-looking aircraft in the game? Like C17A, SU-27, -30, -33 etc? I've tried installing Lock-on skins, but they don't seem to work.

It's a pity that the lowest level is so low, when some of the non-player aircraft (like the F15) look so good.

Yeah, a lot of the remaining AI aircraft are still using the same CMD models from the Flanker days... Slowly but surely they are being upgraded, a little at a time.

Reason older skin packs don't work correctly with DCS OOTB (out of the box) is because they are packed in CDDS format (compressed DDS) which DCS doesn't use anymore. Now they just use zip files to contain the DDS. If you extract the textures from the CDDS and zip them up, or put them in temptextures they will work.

OK, thanks.

A question: installing a skin is equivalent to placing a 'description' in a folder in the Liveries directory, and installing dds files in temptextures, right?

You can do that, but it's cleaner to place the texture files in the same folder in the Liveries directory, and set the last parameter in the description.lua to false; this tells the sim to look in the same directory for the texture, rather than search for it in the system paths.

You can also use a zipfile with the textures + description included, rather than a subdirectory. You can also create the Bazar\Liveries folders under your profile directory and place the files there, if you'd rather not modify the main installation directory. Can't find the post I read that mentioned that, though.
