Is there a way to use the custom skins for the training and campaigns? If so, can we save it so that we don't have to reload it every time we play?

I looked everywhere in the options and could NOT find anything on how to load up a skin for the aircraft.

You will have to make the change in each of the training mission files. The training missions are found in DCS World\mods\aircraft\p-51d\missions\training\(language)\ and then in each of the folders. Might be best to wait for the official release of the P-51 as some of the training missions might be WIP.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

Thanks. But how about the Campaign? I would really want to change to something with more flare than the plane blue plane you get by default?

UPDATE: Just tried to put the Red Tails skin into the directories and it didn't work.

Directory structure for skin is as follows:

Bazar\Liveries\P51D\<directory with the .dds files and the .camp file>

I copied this entire folder into the \en\Aircraft Operations\1 folder you named. The skin is not replaced.

Campaign mode doesn't work either.

You edit the mission in the Mission Editor. Grimes was just showing the path to the training missions so you could find them from within the ME.

EDIT: Docs for the Mission Editor can be found in the GUI manual for the A-10 here.

After having to look on the internet to force permissions and change the mission files so they weren't READ ONLY, I was able to modify the skins in the Mission Editor (finding the object icon, loadout, and change). All has been changed now, accept now my Campaign doesn't show in the window to select the campaign. The only way to play the Campaign missions now is to just open the mission from the browser. Not sure why the campaign broke when overwriting the mission files.

In any case, this should also be a gameplay selectable pull down that is saved with all the other attributes the user sets in the Options menu.

As for the permissions, many of us either install the game outside of Window's UAC areas or turn UAC off. That is useful for any game that you expect to be poking around in.

I am not sure why that affected the campaign the way it did though. I have never tried to modify a campaign mission, that I can recall.

For the training and quick action missions I always copy them out of their home and into the missions folder under saved games and then do what I want with the copies. For one, running training missions that way gives you the option to save a track at the end (very handy for beta's in particular) which you don't have under normal circumstances.

Glad you got it mostly sorted out!:)

Ah. That's very good point. I always wanted to look at my training to see where I went wrong. :(

In any case, the campaign is basically a rundown of all the training missions and more without the aid. Those can be replayed and watched, so I should be good.

Excellent simulation! 10/10 in my book.
