Tailspin45 Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 (edited) In campaign mission three a crosswind is added. But text and voice don't say whether it's from left or right, and there's no windsock or wind-T. Ditto mission 5, the crosswind landing. The wing down image, however, does suggest it's from the left Edited May 30, 2012 by Tailspin45 Blue Skies & Tailwinds tailspinstales.blogspot.com
pieceofmind Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 I just look for a nearby chimney. But I agree it would be nice to have a more convenient indication of the wind direction.
EtherealN Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Just do what I do IRL when ATC is unavailable: point nose in a runway direction, see which way you drift. Consider your airspeed and you then have a good approximation of wind direction and strength. Adjusting your track should be automatic when coming in to land, just correct fluidly until your track is right. Obviously, it's better to do this BEFORE you are on your cirquit. :) EDIT: N/A for takeoff of course. Headspace Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Just do what I do IRL when ATC is unavailable I always just tune ATIS or AWOS from a nearby airport or look at the on field windsock or other wind indicator...very rarely will airports not have those. Even grass fields.
Tailspin45 Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 Yes, all those techniques work...you can even tell which way the wind blows by the general direction cows stand (rump into wind)...but this forum is for bug reports. Blue Skies & Tailwinds tailspinstales.blogspot.com

Even grass fields. We were forced to remove our windsock due to some weird regulation, unfortunately. (They have to be X meters tall, but we're prohibited from erecting one that is that tall due to other regulations. Go figure...)
