outaluck1 Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Good morning fellow flight simmers. I need your help with managing my flight controls in DCS A-10 and DCS World. It all boils down to me getting so frustrated with my controllers that I'm about to through them out the darn window. I own the following CH products: Flight Stick Pro, Pro Pedals, and Pro Throttle. I've spent about six hours trying to get these things mapped correctly in the game and it just isn't working out, because there's about 25 or so options for each command. So do any of you have these products all into one map that I can use for the game? I went to a website called CH Hanger and downloaded some files from there for the A-10 game that a person had developed/mapped. I go into my control options in game to load these files and low and behold they are not the right file type. The file types that were downloaded are .map & .dcs. The file types that are needed in the game are .lua. Or if any of you are Skype users & would be willing to talk me through how to program these things that would be appreciated too. Have a nice day flying while I'm currently grounded, James a.k.a. outaluck1 :helpsmilie:
PeterP Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Please: first try to understand how to set up a controller without scripting of a third-party app only in-game of DCS. Read the GUI manual of DCS to get a overview what to do. Don't start first with editing lua files!! This is mandatory to have always the overview what you are doing. Than you can use other-ones profiles or scripts... Doing it right from the beginning is like opening pandoras box - and you will get sucked into a rabbit-hole you might never come out again in one piece ;) Because no-one can really help you in this case - as we don't know which scripts you want to adapt for you , and what conflicts you have to face/handle. Using a script from someone else right out the box ,without to understand how it works, is a no-go!
Panzertard Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Wise words, Peter. I had to put my rabbits to rest - just too much work keeping these scripts adopted to the DCS world and changing versions for my TM Hotas WH. Having the knowledge just to add the required setup (except for DCS A10C, which is working out of the box). Modding scripts - which I normally do fluently - is just too much overhead for a constant changing sim. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
outaluck1 Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 I don't want to learn how to write a script for the game. I just want to know what command to put in for instance on the X axis of the joystick. There's ch_x, joystick x (which doesn't work), along with multiple others. Please don't take my reply as rude because that's not the way it's meant. I'm just getting so darn frustrated with not having control over the controls that I spent over $350 to have for a more fun and realistic experience.
bobd Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Your best bet is go back to CH Hanger forum for help. Asus ROG Z390, I9 9900K , 32 GB DDR4, EVGA GTX 2080 Ti , Win10 64, Rift CV1 & S VR
104th_Crunch Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 I can only be breif cause it's late here, but you load the CH profile in CH Manager, not within DCS. Read the CH Manage help file and CH for dummies at thw CH Hanger site. In DCS all u will have to setup are the axes.

Crunch I downloaded your control map for DCS A-10 over at CH Hanger (which I greatly appreciate you providing ) but I haven't got a chance to try it. I also searched for the dummies guide but I couldn't find it in the forums. Do you have a direct link to it?
104th_Crunch Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 (edited) Hi Outaluck, Here is a direct link http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/showthread.php?2017-Control-Manager-Tutorial Once you figure out how to load a profile and make it active, all you have to do in A-10C is setup the axes as I said. Really, to load a profile, all you have to do is double click the *.map file. Also make sure in CH Control Manager that you are set to Direct Mode. Edited June 6, 2012 by Crunch

Nereid Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 (edited) Hi Outaluck, Here is a direct link http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/showthread.php?2017-Control-Manager-Tutorial Once you figure out how to load a profile and make it active, all you have to do in A-10C is setup the axes as I said. Really, to load a profile, all you have to do is double click the *.map file. Also make sure in CH Control Manager that you are set to Direct Mode. Well, I would'nt suggest to use direct mode. Some features of the sticks could not be used in this mode. I would STRONGLY recommend to use mapped mode. @outaluck1: If you have questions, feel free to ask. Configuring the stick and throttle is an easy task within the control manager. To make sure the sticks are working correctly in mapped mode, you have to put a small programm (a link to it) from CH in your autostart folder. In DCS you have to identify which direct x device is assigned to stick/throttle/pedals, but this is not a big deal. BTW: I really would suggest to build your own profile in the Control-Manager also. Profiles from other people will most likely do not match your needs.
