Nothing new or exciting really. I knew what USB 3.0 was supposed to do but have never actually had a device to take advantage of it.

After my HDD replacement I had a 1TB Caviar Black available so I ordered a USB 3.0 enclosure for it. All I can say is WOW. My only testing was observational but it is definately very fast. Granted, it is not small like a WD Element but to park on the desk it is pretty damn nice.

I also have a small SSD that I will be putting in an eSATA enclosure. It might be interesting to compare the two.

The SSD should win hands down. The seek is many times lower and the thruput in most cases is also much higher.

The same Caviar drive hooked up to sata should also be faster.
