Short introduction: I'm Eric, physics student, 25 from Sweden and the UK. I've recently given in to my old temptation and ventured into the flight sim world. I bought a TM warthog and TIR, and now I have maybe 25 h in DCS: A10-C.

I was wondering about the best way to get in touch with some people to fly multiplayer with. I've been flying around in singleplayer for a while, and while I still have a lot to learn about the aircraft, techniques and avionics, I'm starting to think about finding some (patient :P) people to fly some missions with.

I've had a look around the this forum but I've not really understood how these things usually work. Maybe someone can share their experiences regarding finding people to fly with. Thanks!

I'd love to fly with you!

I'm from the UK and I'm available most evenings. Do you have Steam? I'm happy to help you learn the Hawg! :D

Always good to meet new pilots!

Your best bet will to find a virtual squadron in your timezone who flies at times that are convenient for you. Just about every squadron will be very welcoming to new members, even if they need to spend a while training you to get up to speed with them (training others is a great way to improve your own skills, so the benefit is mutual).

Check out the squadron directory thread on this site, as well as the squadron listing on the wiki. Latency isn't a major issue especially if you play cooperative missions, so you don't necessarily need to limit yourself to your geographic area - finding people that fly at times that suit you is most important.

You can also just stalk the server lists and see if there's any public servers that are often available at times you like to fly, and then just fly on them. You're bound to eventually run into people that way, and can potentially set up something regular out of that.

You'll also definitely want to get the TeamSpeak 3 client if you don't already, as most squadrons use that, often in combination with TARS for additional immersion.

Wow, I'm very impressed with the hospitality and friendliness of this community! I found a gang of Swedes, Master Arms, to fly with. The geographic proximity should help with schedules and latency both. I really want to thank all the nice offers I got both here and as PMs. :)

I was thinking -- we have a squadron directory, but how about a new pilot database? A stickied thread where noobs can post and connect with others.
