Fulcrumkiller31 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 With all of the new 3rd party developing going on my head is spinning! Im loving the direction ED is taking. However in development could mean very far away from actually being completed (multiple years). I could say I am developing DCS-(insert fighter here) but not be done for 5 years, so it’s really not even worth announcing. I really don’t want to get my hopes up for anything because I know it could be a long way off. However is there any way to tell if something will be completed in 2 months, <6 months, a year, over a year? MIG-21 looks to me like it could almost be in beta! yet I have no idea what actually goes on or the process that an aircraft goes through in development. It could very well be a long way off. ED has been killing me since the announcement of the US fixed wing fighter, I’ve been glued to the forums trying to find answers. As most of you probably are, I am extremely anxious for all the new aircraft. Its torture...:helpsmilie: So what I am asking given all of the new 3rd party aircraft being developed, which ones are close, and as for the other ones how long are we talking here? Not looking for dates just timeframes.:joystick: Computer: I7 12700K OC 5.0 All Cores, EVGA 3070TI FTW 3, MSI Tomahawk Z690 DDR4 WIFI, 64 GB Corsair DDR4 3600 MHz, M.2 NVME 3TB Gear: Virpil T-50CM2 Mongoose Stick, CM3 Base, CM3 Throttle, Logitech Pedals, HP Reverb G2 Modules: F-15E, F-18C, F-16C, F-14, A-10C II, AV-8B, M-2000C, Mirage F1, F-5, AH-64D, MI-24, KA-50, Nevada TTR, Syria, Persian Gulf, Falklands, Sinai, Afghanistan
simtex Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 You've stated exactly whats going on in my mind wrt. DCS.

Daze Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Well Iris are planning on releasing all their aircraft within the next 3 years (BD-5J, F-14, F-22, T-38, F-15E) and as you say the MiG-21 looks almost ready to be released. I'd say by around December 2013 we will have 4+ new planes, some DCS level fidelity and some not. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] First to Fight, First to Strike.
jp203000 Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 All DCS modern fighters ( no matter ED or the third parties')are unexceptionally at early stage so that none of them will be available before 2014 duo to the complexity.
Daze Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 ^ Not true at all [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] First to Fight, First to Strike.

And it doesn't mean someone won't produce 'pre-release / beta' for sale - and evolve the FM, cockpit and weapons while they keep developing & improving it. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
gunterlund21 Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Yes I agree its tough watching the aircraft mania that is currently going on in the DCS boards. Everyone and their mother is coming out announcing a new aircraft. Some of them I dont comprehend why they want to model other than the pure love of making models. I cant imagine there will be enough demand for some of them. I think the biggest hurdle that will need to be crossed is the electronics of the aircraft in particular the radars. This area I believe is what separates DCS from FSX. Both groups can model the aircraft, Flight model, and cockpit, but DCS is looked at to take aircraft to the next level of Realism. I hope these groups start focusing their limited resources to bring a few quality aircraft vs a shmorgusboard of non-functional aircraft so we can just fly around in the DCS world. I was in Art of the Kill D#@ it!!!!
