Madman777 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Howdy, With a newly upgraded computer and the ability to run ANY sim or game at high settings, I look at my HD and try to figure out which sim I want to try out first after my upgrade. I keep going back to the KA-50. Even after four years of spending thousands of hours, I still get excited and motivated to fly the KA-50 faster and lower, while engaging and killing the enemy. I think I know the reason why. The flight model for the KA-50 kicks *ss! It's challenging to fly, and especially fly and fight.. Yes, the A-10C is amazing and the tech is awesome, but it's just so easy to fly. The reason for this post? To give credit to the amazing flight model and a big thank you to DCS for giving me something challenging and fun to fly, even after so many missions. And now, with a PC that can run it on high settings, the world and helo itself looks stunningly beautiful. I really *hope* we get some new helicopters. I would gladly pay hundreds of dollars for an Apache A or D model. :-) i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules
Griffin Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I really *hope* we get some new helicopters. I would gladly pay hundreds of dollars for an Apache A or D model. :-) Amen! A dozen 3rd party planes coming, including so many trainers and F-22!? How the hell can they model that?! Really makes me worried. And not a single helicopter... dissapointing.

Even a Cobra, or MI-28...etc. Helo's are fun, challenging and so worth the money. i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules

KaspeR32 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Grats on the new rig Madman. I see you have a 60GB drive. Is that Windows & DCS? And 4.8Ghz, impressive! Intel i5-2500k @ 4.4GHz w/ H70 liquid cooler, ASRock PRO3-M Z68 Mobo, 32G 1600Mhz Mushkin RAM, EVGA GTX970 4GB , OCZ Agility 3 128g SSD, SanDisk 240g SSD, Win7 64-bit --Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/livingfood --
Madman777 Posted June 22, 2012 Author Posted June 22, 2012 Grats on the new rig Madman. I see you have a 60GB drive. Is that Windows & DCS? And 4.8Ghz, impressive! Thanks KaspeR! The most recent upgrade was the GTX 670. The 60GB SSD has only DCS and Rise of Flight on it. Until I get a second SSD for Windows. :-) And 4.8Ghz is actually not that difficult. Sandy Bridge is so easy to overclock. :-) i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules
KaspeR32 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I have the 2500k, and I can't really get it more than 4.0Ghz, I have an ASRock mobo too that might be making it more difficult. The voltage settings are weird and I'm getting BSOD if I go more than 4.0. Oh well, It's fast enough anyway :) And yeah I saw a great deal on a Crucial M4 256GB SSD the other day for $179! Running windows on an SSD is awesome, if you love the loading time improvement of DCS, just wait ;) Everything is so responsive, it's by far the best upgrade I've ever made. SSDs ftw. There is something wrong there. 2500k should get up to 4.4Ghz without an increase in voltage. There are a few guides on OC'ing Sandy Bridge. I followed one exactly and managed to get up to 4.8ghz. I've had it up to 5Ghz a couple of times, but the 1.45v scared me..hehe. I used to have windows on an SSD, but I got rid of that drive and decided to go with windows on normal HD. Big mistake. Very ugly loading times. i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules
Madman777 Posted June 22, 2012 Author Posted June 22, 2012 It really does add to the immersion when the scenery and graphics look top notch. My GF is starting to get jealous cause she see's me staring at the KA50 for long periods of time. :-) i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules

Sceptre Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 No more helicopters = RTX 2070 8GB | 32GB DDR4 2666 RAM | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 4.2Ghz | Asrock X570 | CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle | TM MFDs | TrackIR 5
Huckle Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Only 4Ghz? There is something wrong there. 2500k should get up to 4.4Ghz without an increase in voltage. Well, that's a challenge - I've just started to overclock mine. Is there much difference in FPS for BS b/w stock 2500k and 4.4GB?
Madman777 Posted June 23, 2012 Author Posted June 23, 2012 0.2GHz is not worth increasing voltage to "danger zone". Exactly.. 4.8ghz is a real sweet spot for this sandy bridge. i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules

For sure that would make a difference. You would prob notice it more on a busy mission. i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules
Madman777 Posted June 23, 2012 Author Posted June 23, 2012 No more helicopters = Hahaha. Yeah that about sums it up. If I win the lottery I will be the first to kick start an apache :-) i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules
