pollock56th Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Helios has peaked my interests in adding a 4th monitor for instrument display and controls. I particular like a set up I saw on YouTube using the HUD view with eyefinity and all the instruments and controls were on a single touchscreen. I want this! Any suggestions for a 22 inch (max size) monitor? Also I realize the requirement of a 2nd graphics card any suggestions for that too would be helpful. It appears there are templates already posted on SCS simulations web site Yay! Specs. HawkMedic126 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I purchased a Compaq L2105M 21.5" LCD touchscreen from Amazon.com and couldn't be happier. Win7 64bit recognized the multitouch right out of the box. Helios works great, and the profile I downloaded by CapLoz works perfectly with the monitor. Hope this helped. http://www.amazon.com/Compaq-L2105TM-LCD-Touch-Monitor/dp/B002VJL0RA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342124633&sr=8-1&keywords=hp+l2105 System Specs: Intel i5 2500k OC to 4.3Ghz 16GB RAM Asus 1.5GB GTX580 H80 Liquid Cooler Vizio 37" HDTV Compaq 21.5" Touchscreen TM Warthog Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals TrackIR5 Logitech G13
pollock56th Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 thanks Hawk. I have to hold off on the touch screen for a few months but I do have a 19 LCD I plan on using with Helios "non touch". I will use my thrustmaster mfd panels and affix them to the monitor. Specs. cichlidfan Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) The ViewSonic in my sig is 22" and worked like a charm with Win 7 and Helios. I am running it (1920x1080) and my Dell U2711 (2560x1440) from the single GTX580 with no problems. EDIT: One thing to note. In my case my choices were slightly limited because I required a VESA mount which eliminated quite a few options. I also was only looking at the one specific resolution. pollock56th Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 Vesa mounting is a good point. That makes it easier to mount in the pit, and make modifications. The Samsung 19 " I plan on putting in as my control panel will be Mounted with this, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000W0ETD2/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00 Eventually I will mount a 22 inch touchscreen in its place. cichlidfan Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 My 'pit' has to be multi-purpose atm so I have mine on an articulated arm by the same company. http://www.amazon.com/LX-Desk-Mount-LCD-Arm/dp/B00358RIRC/ref=pd_sim_e_2 ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! HawkMedic126 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I agree about VESA mounts, although pretty much anything you find today will have them. I don't know if I'd buy a monitor that didn't come with them. The stand I use for my touchscreen sits near the edge of the desk and allows the screen to hang over by about an inch. I tried an arm similar to the one you suggested but could never get the monitor positioned where I wanted it. My stand came from a company called Ergomart. http://www.ergomart.com/lcd_monitor_stands/lcd_monitor_stand_SL102_Limbo.htm System Specs: Intel i5 2500k OC to 4.3Ghz 16GB RAM Asus 1.5GB GTX580 H80 Liquid Cooler Vizio 37" HDTV Compaq 21.5" Touchscreen TM Warthog Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals TrackIR5 Logitech G13
