cgjimeneza Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I all I just got BS1 and A-10, building new computer, I currently have a lot of stull (track IR, CHs fighterstick, throttle and rudders) the works I was wondering if this 10" monitor which is USB can be used as a MFD for this games.... I have a Geforce 550Ti w/2 megs ram... and use both outputs for 22" monitors.. the monitor Im thinking is this: http://www.amazon.com/Shark-shk1040-Desktop-Monitor-Screen/dp/B000YA95RK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3VZIKVBVQ35XX&colid=2INRDGZVI86AS
KiwiPete Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 usb touch screens - should be fine. G'day cgjimeneza, Short answer is yes - it should work. As long as your usb touch screen works under the your operating system, there's nothing special about DCS that limits USB monitors - at least not that I'm aware of. I'm running four touch screens fir DCS (two as MFCDs, one for UFC and Radio stack, with the forth used for CDU.). I'm running a single 24" monitor. Have a look at the attached screen shot - shows all 5 monitors - monitors 2 to 5 are USB 8 inch Lilliput. I can't speak for the monitor you are looking at but is should be fine. All the best. Pete Science doesn't have all the answers...but at least it's asking the right questions! Weltensegler Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 USB displays will cost a lot FPS at least if you already use big resolutions/multiple monitors but when you have one main screen only then you shouldn't have a problem. Your PC should be able to handle that. You might need to keep an aero profile on to get display artifacts on your usb display. 4790K@4,6Ghz | EVGA Z97 Classified | 32GB @ 2400Mhz | Titan X hydro copper| SSD 850 PRO ____________________________________ Moments in DCS: --> https://www.youtube.com/user/weltensegLA --> WELD's cockpit: --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92274
PeterP Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 (edited) As Weltensegler says. USB monitors can be a bottleneck for your whole system when it is already low on resources. Don't expect any miracles as this is the possible worst scenario to run DirectX contend on a secondary monitor. In a nutshell and very simplified: The pixel data has to go this way to the USB-Monitor: DCS > gpu > V-ram > ram > virtual-graphic-adapter(no hardware acceleration! everything is software based = extra cpu-cycles) > compression> USB-BUS > Monitor. With a normal monitor it goes like this : DCS > GPU > V-ram > Monitor I don't want to scare you off, just passing the info!:) It can sometimes take away about 5-10 fps... no problem when you running anywhere in the 50ties but a huge problem when you are running between 20-30.
