WildBillKelsoe Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Hello, I'm thinking about x-plane 10. So far, I've liked the custom aircraft thingy. could you add custom cockpits from custom made (self made) gauges and dials? could you integrate your very own ATC comms package? B2 stealth and F22 rapta seems far from realism in cockpit. I don't think anybd could model the F-22 from RL, unless they really hate Onkel Sam's guts/ thinking about defecting to the east... :P The whole key thingy is a bit shallow, I think. Just a market overprice. What do you think? Compared to FSX, what are xplane 10's advantages over the former? Oh, if you have x-plane 10 vids, post your channels here please, so I have a look. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
Bushmanni Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I think you can download a demo for X-Plane and see for yourself. At least with previous versions it was possible. It's actually the full version of the game but joystick get's ignored after 5 minutes and you need to restart it. BudgieSmuggler Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 X-plane wins on flight model, FSX wins on available aircraft/scenery modules. X-plane graphics is getting much better but don't expect real life scenery except if you can find a third party scenery pack for the area (rare), the scenery is automagically generated. Also compared to DCS and real planes, I think the X-plane aircraft feel a little off - like they are too light weight or something similar? In particular they seem to bounce around a bit too much in rough weather conditions, and helicopters are quite hard to fly without heavily damping the joystick sensitivity or using a long pole type controller. You can definitely do custom aircraft with custom dials in X-plane but it is a lot of work. Not sure about ATC.
Phantom88 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 As a long time FSX user with 100's of $$ invested in it,I have to say once I tried XPlane 10 it really changed Flight Simulation for me,It's not perfect but it really gives me a great sense of airspeed and actually flying. I'm sorry,I don't know enogh about it to answer your other questions but you can try these forums that are full of knowledgeable XPlane flight simmers. http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php/index http://x-plane.org/ Here's some shots of a new airport/scenery just released KILM,Wilmington NC Patrick
WildBillKelsoe Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 this looks great. maybe, when I'm bored with DCS, I'll consider (temporarily) changing to Xplane10. But that, is so hard to happen. I'm just attached. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower.
