Common mistake. Hi. I've got what I believe to be the same issue, but with Warthog. I changed my CPU and upgraded RAM. I've attached screens of the problem. First dialog says activation is broken, 2nd asks for serial number (it's already filled out, but double checked anyway). It doesn't activate and loops round and round. In fact the whole dialog is shaky - the Exit button is dead, clicking Other for non-internet activation simply brings up another copy of the same dialog box and trying to de-activate tells me I just can't because activation is invalid, lol. Interestingly if you click Exit enough times the game will load in the background and will load what appears to be an unflyable demo, with the activation window still at the front. Exiting DCS at this point results in a CTD. Sent an email to support yesterday but dead keen to get on it as have tomorrow off work! :helpsmilie:
saturnuranus Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 After a bit of fiddling the solution (for me at least) seems to be to delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics\Warthog from the registry. The entire Key. Re-activation then proceeds without any problems. The OP might consider deleting the corresponding BS1 key.
deskoilot Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 That is what I had to do also, Return message said that I had 3 activations left? I thoughr that I had only used 2 of the 8. I guess I was wrong.
WildBillKelsoe Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 be very careful as BS1 activations are capped and non-renewable. BS2/A-10C/P-51D are renewable 1 month after spending entire activations. Partially true only - while BS1 keys do run out, you can request to have them refilled. You can check your exact status on the protection website: http://proactive.star-force.com/2.0/activate.php Enter your key, and then press the "Serial Number Parameters" link instead of completing the rest towards the activation. This will tell you how many activations and deactivations etcetera you have left, and will also tell you when exactly these activations were spent. I don't have issues with my keys but, just for grins, I took a look at the info available by using this process. I don't know where to put it but it sure seems like this should be in an extra big sticky (possibly in more than one place) with a heading like 'Everything you could want to know about your key' in 72pt type. I would say this should be in the Quick Start Guide but it probably is and I never noticed (nobody reads it anyway :P). One minor thing. I did not see any deactivation information and I am fairly certain I have deactivated the key I checked several times. There are however, reactivations listed. Regardless, this is very useful. EtherealN Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 It is in the Wiki information page (link at the top), but yeah, perhaps it should be placed somwhere easy to find on the forum as well.
