hey guys, pls let me know how to solve the "ping too high" issue..

I have a 10Mbit/s internet connection on my PC , so this should be more then enough, but I often get "Ping to high" on MP servers...the average ping message I get from the servers is that my ping is more than 300 !!! sometimes followed by kick..

BUT according to speedtest.net my ping is only 2ms !! so whats the problem here?? pls help

cheers

Ping is time in ms from your machine to server machine and back and it depends on distance only, not your line bandwidth.

Ping tests will test to nearest server, hence you get low ping, but when you connect to server on diferrent continent ping increases a lot, and further you connect the higher the ping.

There are other factors that can affect ping times and one of them is if ISP has some sort of filtering which scans packets and introduces delays, so your ping increases, also it depends how the ISP, routes the packets. In Australia for example, my ISP has cables to the US and Singapore, but all regular internet traffic is routed through cable going to the US, so for example even though India is "near by" because all internet traffic is routed over the US, to connect to India packets travel "away" from India over the US then Europe,a nd eventually get to India, so if routing was direct to India ping would be much lower, but it itsn't.
