DCS never ceases to entertain me with the little moments ;)

I got hit by a SAM, lost the vertical stabiliser and entered into a heavily pitching inverted spin!

Then it happened, a red out! followed by a black out. It's been so long since I remember seeing a red out that I almost forgot about them. So happy was I with this little moment that I didn't bother ejecting I was too busy smiling about this sim!

please, could somebd help me understand the difference between a red-out, and a black-out. I know black-out is from hypoxia that you faint. red-out, if I'm medically correct, is from too much blood going to head from +ve over G? Is that why pilots grind their teeth in the centrifuge machine?

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

"Blackout" is caused by excessive positive (+ve) "G", the blood rushes away from the head and you begin to loose colour vision then vision, finally becoming unconscious.

"Red out" is caused by excessive negative (-ve) "G", the blood rushes to your head and causes the blood vessels in your eyes to enlarge, resulting in seeing only red.

In a rollercoaster, +ve "G" is felt on the inside of a loop and negative is felt on the outside of a loop to give you a simple idea.

A centrifuge can only simulate positive +ve "G".
