Hammerhead Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) Hi, I uninstalled my old DCS A-10C 1.1.1.1 and updated to DCS World. I noticed all my settings are gone and also pilot logbook. I have a backup image of my hard drive before the update. What files do I need to copy and paste in order to have my old settings again? (graphics, joystick and mouse controls, trackir, etc). I found logbook.lua and overwrite the one in C:\Users\myname\Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor but if I check Logbook page in DCS World I have 3 tabs: General --- Su-25T --- A-10C. My flight hours and records are under the general tab only, and A-10 tab is empty! Is it normal that I now have two folders or is one of them an old folder from previous installation? I have: C:\Users\name\Saved Games\DCS and C:\Users\name\Saved Games\DCS Warthog And what's with the config files that I found in: C:\GAMES\DCS A-10C Warthog\DCS World\Config\Input\Aircrafts This is frustrating me. Took me ages to get all my settings to my liking and now I'm back to zero thanks to the update. My throttle doesn't even work anymore and I cannot remember how I did all the settings. Thanks for your help. Best simulator ever so I really can't wait to get it work again. Hammerhead Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) Thanks, in the meantime I found a way to edit the logbook file: I deleted the logbook.lua file from the folder C:\Users\myname\Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor. Started DCS World and A-10C and flew a quickmission just to get a few new scores and flighttime in the A-10C. Then quit game. A new fresh new logbook.lua file was made with a few entries. Opened this up with wordpad and also opened up the backup of my old logbook.lua. As I compared them, I noticed the new DCS World uses a different layout for the logbook file so overwriting with the old lua file doesn't help. So I edited manually each entry by copying and pasting the right numbers into the new logbook file. Now it's all ok. Still would like to learn about the file structure for backup and restore of settings and configuration files. cichlidfan Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 In general, it is a bad idea to copy config files from v1.1.1.1 to DCS World. As you have discovered, the log file is no longer the same. Additional commands have also been added that could cause issues with copying control configs. It is possible to use the old data, as you have also learned, by cutting and pasting carefully. Myself, I had heavily editted control configs in the first place so I was able to transfer some things but that is only because I knew exactly what was and was not in my configs. As for where things are stored. The files you found buried in the installation folder are the defaults that the sim uses for various controllers. The active configurations are all stored in the DCS folder under saved games. Hope this helps a little. :) ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Hammerhead Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 Thanks, I guess I'll have to manually adjust my settings then in this new version. Another thing I noticed is that I do not get speech sound in quickmissions and training missions. Subtitles are displayed but text is not read aloud. Googled and found something that you need DX9 iso DX11 but I'm not sure if this will solve the commentator sound. The article only talked about gun and engine sound but that works ok.
