JCook Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Eventually I'll reach my goal of having my pit setup and enough skill to fly multiplayer in a virtual squadron. In preparation for that day I'm looking into a headset for the needed communications in online play. I'm looking for some recommendations on what is working for you and what didn't work. I'll be using the headset with a TrackIR proclip so the headset can't be too thick. Not sure about wireless if it is at all problematic.
LawnDart Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 If you can afford it, the Logitech G930 is awesome! Haven't regretted getting it a single day since I bought it some years ago... The headband extension leaves a perfect fit for the TrackIR clip to attach to. (I added a USB battery pack for my TrackIR clip to make it all wireless). The G930 is also wireless! It comes with a USB dongle plug-in for charging. (A charge holds for ~10 hours or so at a time). Neat feature is the G-keys, allowing you to assign your push-to-talk on one of the buttons on the side of your headset itself (in addition to keyboard/joystick of course), so whenever you leave your mancave to go make yourself a late night sandwich you won't miss a word... and you can still participate in the fray (albeit with a mouth full). http://www.logitech.com/en-us/gaming/headsets/wireless-gaming-headset-g930 [sigpic]http://www.virtualthunderbirds.com/Signatures/sig_LD.jpg[/sigpic] Virtual Thunderbirds, LLC | Sponsored by Thrustmaster Corsair 750D Case | Corsair RM850i PSU | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X CODE | 32GB Corsair DDR4 3200 | Intel i7-8086K | Corsair Hydro H100i v2 Cooler | EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW | Oculus Rift | X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty | Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1TB NVMe | Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB | WD Caviar Black 2 x 1TB | TM HOTAS Warthog | TM Pendular Rudder | TM MFD Cougar Pack | 40" LG 1080p LED | Win10 |
cichlidfan Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 I am fully wired but the Logitech G35 works quite well. They also have the G keys but, though the cable is long, you won't make it to the kitchen while wearing them. :P As for comfort they are not bad at all even for several hours. The wireless Sennheiser's on my stereo are nicer but they cost significantly more and would be an extra hassle to put on the computer. ;) ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP!
