I threw together a mission last night because I wanted to play something on the North Coast of Krasnodar Krai. It actually gave me a decent mission idea based off of a plausible history for the area.

This mission is currently being tested so I'd welcome all feedback.

"It is Summer 2014. The world is aflame as stunning gains by an empowered Doku Umarov has successfully established Islamist control of the caucuses. The long feared Caucusean Emirate has slowly and inevitably expanded its contested existence across Chechnya to Krasnodar Krai.

The 2 year pan-national Syrian-Iraqi-Iranian war has weakened the ability of NATO to oppose this force. As bases and military equipment fell to the creeping Emirate, Russia watched in horror as the violence spread beyond the Osset-Chechnyian borders onto her soil.

On June 13th. Umarov successfully routed embattled forces from Krymsk and Anapa. He immediatly sent forces north to Temryuk to capture the assets of the Russian 382nd Marine Battalion. This battalion under the stewardship of CO Lt.Col. Oleg Kovalev was overrun but not before desperately broadcasting a dire warning. Temryuk was host to a Black Sea Fleet Nuclear Fuel processing plant. Umarov was about to have complete control over enough nuclear material to threaten the world with dirty bombs.

Fuel has been transported from Temryuk to Anapa by Mi8 and they are awaiting a convoy from Krymsk to distribute it east throughout the Emirate.

Ships are waiting in Temryuk harbour to transport material west under the guise of commercial goods.

Both Temryuk and Krymsk are believed to be Emirate strongholds. Try to focus on your objectives."

4 x KA50 Flying out of Sennoy

4 x A10C, 3 x SU25T Flying out of Gelendzhik

Reasonable cooperation required.

Following the Beslan School Massacre, US President George Bush declared that the United States would stand "Shoulder to Shoulder" with Russia against the threat fo terrorism. Never before has this resolve needed to be tested in this regard.

We must eliminate the ability of Umarov to develop dirty bombs at the Temryuk site.

Primary Mission Goals:

1. Destroy Temryuk Naval Fuel Processing plant.

2. Destroy Shipping defence and strike the ships at Temryuk

3. Destroy the ability of bomb expert Abdul Samad Achekzai to transport the material by Convoy or Mi-8s between Krymsk and Anapa.

Secondary Mission Goals:

1. Destroy captured 382nd assets in Temryuk to below 10% capacity.

Cool mission, however can you switch the predator from AM to FM? it will make communications on guard easier for people if they don't have to constantly be switching their AM radios between frequencies. Especially for those that use TARS.

And to make it easier for others to edit your mission, you should probably not hide each individual unit. Rather if you want people to be able to not see them in game, there is an option for F-10 views in the map settings tab that only allows people to see the map, but nothing on it.

Edit: Also, to make it easier on the A-10C guys, you could add a tanker that orbits in a N-S track just to the west of the Ka-50 FARP. This would allow them to take realistic fuel loads i.e. not 100%, and stay on station for as long as the mission requires. in addition, since they have the take such a roundabout route anyways (over the sea and then back north), a tanker may be helpful to some people who have used a lot of gas getting to the Ka-50 FARP in the beginning.

Also, just my 2c, but given the situation you have outlined, wouldn't it be more plausible as well as practical for the A-10C's to take off from Krasnodar instead of Gelendzhik? It would be take just as long to get to the targets, and it would fit much better to the story if they took off from an airbase that wasn't behind enemy lines. To be honest, the most practical choice would probably be to put them at Maykop or Mineralnye Vody, however time wise, I can see how many people would not want to make that long of a Journey. And if the planes were stationed at Mineralnye Vody, then a tanker would be required (again, assuming people can't conserve fuel, and take ~50%) as well as the Ka-50's having to wait for the A-10C's to get there.

Great suggestions Pyro.

You know... i have been making missions since 2009 - thta is the first time i heard you could limite views in map settings  will do.

Sure thing on the tanker.... makes sense - I'll throw it on FM along with the predator.

I didnt use Krasnodar as it would be held by the emirate. I agree that it would be more realistic for a southern flight - hell, ultimately i wish the a10s could fly from the Crimean.... I chose Gelendzhik with a simlulation of landing American forces having recently routed umarov.... if you look at the water line you will see them all - may be I need to make that clearer in the brief?

S! Thanks for the test... how far did you get? I am curious if all the triggers worked.

With just me, I didn't get very far past just looking at the mission to see the general validity of it. Sorry for that, though I will probably take a closer look at it later today to make sure everything works right, though again, with just me testing it, it might not pan out correctly (i.e. I would be using a single A-10C with unlimited weapons).

Another idea for the mission though, if you are really interested in the immersion factor is to stick some American CAP flights out to the southwest as well as Russian flights coming in from the north. In a realistic situation, this would be the most plausible from a militarily strong threat like an empowered emirates. More likely than not they would have access to a lot of semi-modern Russian, and American hardware that they would be using to try and defend the fuel. A few F-16 and MiG-29 flights (Emirates) being countered by F/A-18E and Su-27S's (Amerorus coalition) would be a likely scenario.
