_Dredd Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Just recently upgraded my car headunit which has the Time Alignment feature. The sound difference is amazing; and the sound stage is more dynamic with a singer's voice and midbass defined at the front. I'm curious, can we apply something similar to the PC audio speakers and DCS? Im not too experienced with audio technicalties, but am all ears to know how the audio experience could be improved more. Im currently running a 5.1 system and Audigy SC, where not all speaker are evenly spaced, so I need to adjust the sound levels(balance cheat) to get a good surround sound spacing. :pilotfly: Current Flight Rig i7 4960X @ 4.6Ghz ASUS Rampage IV Formula G.SKILL TridentX 2400Mhz 32GB DDR3 Crucial 1TB MX300 SSD MSI Gaming X 1080Ti Samsung 55" JS8000 SUHD 4K Windows 10 x64 TrackIR 5, Warthog HOTAS Saitek Pro Flight Combat Pedals Custom Akers-Barnes, MkI eyeball.
Slayer Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 DCS doesn't really support 3D sound AFAIK only left and right. using virtual surround that is included with some headphones and soundcards is a step in the right direction. I haven't had an Audigy in years but there is a option for setting the distance of he speakers if you dig around in settings. Also of note , MS in there infinite wisdom gutted directsound 3D from the OS so no sound is truly hardware accelerated anymore unless you are running on WIndows XP. I guess it was too unstable ...
