cichlidfan Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 If you download a mission. Where do you put the file? You can put them in a several places. Inside the sim folders World has a mission folder and each module has a mission folder as well. However, if you want to put them into an are more easily backed up I would suggest the Saved Games mission folder here: C:\Users\<YourName>\Saved Games\DCS\Missions When placed in this location they will be found under My Mission when you wish to fly or edit one of them. spn Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 If you download a mission. Where do you put the file? I did something a little differant. I created a folder called "MISSIONS" inside the World folder. Then inside the Missions folder, I created a folder for each plane in the DCS Series. A-10C Warthog, P-51D, Ka-50 Blackshark and Combined Arms. When using the sim, go to the missions folder and select the plane and mission you would like to use. After first setting it up, Start missions and start with the "C" location and route your way to the Missions folder inside the World directory. Enter Missions folder and select any of the mission folders you have created. After this, each time you start DCS World, it will default to this location. This would also apply to using Mission Editor.

If you create that same structure in the Saved Games>DCS>Missions folder, then you get the same result with less drilling down through folders. Once this is set up, you do not have to step down through multiple folders. After establishing the initial path when you first open "Mission Editor" or "Missions" folder, it will default to these locations.

True, it does default to the last used folder IIRC but that still leaves it inside an application which is an area that try to avoid including in regular scheduled backups. My Saved Games folder, on the other hand, is backed up every night. My Saved Games folder, on the other hand, is backed up every night. So we can end this discussion, I have many other areas besides "My Saved Games" folder being backed up daily. This is not really an issue. It all comes down to how an individual wants to set up their systems that best suits their own needs. If it works for them, then that's all that matters. Right?
