WildBillKelsoe Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 ^^ I'm really disappointed. I even start shooting from 0.3 nm (1822 feet) with a lag pursuit to keep bandit on gyro rings, and deflect like twice the lead still can't get hits. What is going on? Should I use lead pursuit instead? I just can't get into saddle. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. GGTharos Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) Yeah, you should be dissapointed with your dogfighting skills from the sound of it. Then again, track please - perhaps there's something else that's going wrong. PeterP Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 What is going on? Should I use lead pursuit instead? I just can't get into saddle. Haha! you can ask question like this on this site: http://411.ca/business/profile/4235262 but as GG mentioned: Unwritten forum rule 5.1: No track = it never happened :)
Echo38 Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 As I understand things, if you've correctly configured the gyro sight, you will hit the target when your pipper is on it, regardless of what speed, deflection angle, and distance--provided that it's within normal gun ranges (the eventual loss of projectile energy being the only thing not accounted for). All that said, I never was fond of the gyro sight; I was better at aiming without it, because I practice the hell out of gunnery, and I had an advantage over the fellows who were always distracted fiddling with the gyro sight. What's more is, it's a crutch--rely on it, then lose it, and you'll be cooked.
WildBillKelsoe Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) You wanted a track? here is a track. what happened that got me down, I will never know. Maybe you could enlighten me.. Just as I was getting the first bogey in the sack, I suddenly lost a wing and plummeted.. was I shot by the second bogey? Echo38 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 (edited) I can't view the track, because I don't have P-51D yet. However, from the sound of it, I'm guessing that you over-G'd your wing. It was relatively easy to do in the P-51, because the thing was so fast and had a very effective elevator. Edited September 6, 2012 by Echo38
ED Team Yo-Yo Posted September 6, 2012 ED Team Posted September 6, 2012 Be patient: K-14 had a bug and now it's fixed. The wings off mechanics were reworked too, so it will be not so easy to get it off. Next version, guys, next version solves the problems... :) Ніщо так сильно не ранить мозок, як уламки скла від розбитих рожевих окулярів There is nothing so hurtful for the brain as splinters of broken rose-coloured spectacles. Refine the kneeboard maps.. that yellow obscuring area in the last page on the kneeboard from the zoom is very bad. WildBillKelsoe Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 Doesn't the gyro pipper need to be on target a couple seconds before firing guns? I set range at 600. It is faulty ATM, but you're right. It is called "Settling time" for the gyro sight to compute the lead required based on gyro drifting of target and own ship velocity vector. However the sight has it's limitations being not real time, therefore the projected lead is 1 TOF earlier. Meaning the lead you see is where the bullet would've hit 1 sec earlier to current timestamp. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Somewhere within Aces High's forums is a good explanation how computers see each other and why bullets do not hit their intended target due to lag mostly, frame rates, ping and broadband download / upload speed differences in MULTIPLAYER. They call it FRONT END. What you see on your PC is not exactly where your opponent is and also as he sees you. I just bought bonded DSL, a new, faster technology, and I now run 4 times faster on broadband. I went from 3GB per second download speed to 12. BUT how can I compete with guys running at 30, 50, or 100 Giga-Bytes per second download speeds? I cannot. I played Aces High for 5 years and this issue is the difference, the common denominator, of guys being better at dogfighting than the next guy. And this issue is always a hush-hush topic nobody talks about because guys with the higher download/upload speeds have the advantage and they know it. Bullet streams like WWII aircraft, this makes a difference. Rockets, less so. In Single Player this issue would not be an issue, I think.
