Jordan4 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) Hello, when in the radio menu I am unable to select F-7 F-9 F-10 F-11 and F-12. Currentley I am stuck on a mission where I beleive I am supposed to use F-10 to contact a friendley ground unit and tell it to advance because I am unable to access the F-10 radio menu. I do have track I.R and F-7 F-8 F-9 and F-12 are mapped as hotkeys however F-8 works so I am not entirley sure that the track I.R is causing the issue. Another usefull thing to mention is that When playing around with the track I.R I accidentally programed the center hotkey to mouse1. In an attempt to revert it back to F-12 which it was before I pressed F-12 while in the change menu however rather than it being mapped back to F-12 it says that the key assigned to it is ( next track ). My keyboard has dual functions for F-9 through F-12 which are as follows. F-9 is play pause, F-10 is stop, F-11 is back track, and F-12 is next track for media ( I never use them for these purposes ). Now I am just uterley confused and really could use some help because without the F keys not functioning properley in the radio menus I am not able to contact essential units/friendly assets that are required to complete some if not most missions. Thank you for your help! Edited September 19, 2012 by Jordan4
bengo Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Hi, sounds like you are using TrackIR ? Remap the keys in the TrackIR-software. Para_Bellum Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) I had the same problem when I reinstalled the latest versions of DCS (and the TIR software) yesterday. The solution was to delete the default profile file (via windows) in the TrackIR folder and remap the F keys in all other profiles since even when exclusively using a profile with remapped keys the default profile would still interfere with the ingame F commands. Jordan4 Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) Bingo yes I originally mentioned that I am using track IR. The reason I do not think the issue is related to track IR is because My F-8 key does work even though it is mapped in Track IR. The solution was to delete the default profile file (via windows) in the TrackIR folder and remap the F keys in all other profiles since even when exclusively using a profile with remapped keys the default profile would still interfere with the ingame F commands. Thank you Para Bellum for the advice when you say remap the F keys in all other profiles are you referring to track IR profiles? I was unable to find where the radio commands are located in the in game controls menu so I am not able to change them. I think if I can knock this problem out I will finally be able to start playing this game without any other hiccups. Edited September 20, 2012 by Jordan4
Jordan4 Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 Ok I did what you said and delete the default profile. I then remapped the remaining two profiles so that the hotkeys where not set as any of the F keys although the profile labeled " One:One " would not save the changes so I just changed them and left that profile on. This did not resolve my problem. Please anybody who knows what is wrong please help because this issue makes it so that I cannot use Awacs or the F-10 other menu which are critical to completing certain missions. It strikes me odd that these particular keys are not able to be remapped in the game. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place or havent find them I dont know. PLEASE HELP!
zacklaws Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I had a problem with the "F" keys, the only one that worked properly was F1, all the others did nothing or made the aircraft become uncontrolable leading to crashing if I recall correctly I found eventually that it was down to my keyboard having an "F" lock key, once I switched it on, everything worked normally
Jordan4 Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 I do not have an F lock key but thank you for your advice. Anybody else? These little issues with this game are killing me. Every single time I figure something out something else pops up to take its place this is getting so frustrating.
Jordan4 Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 Fixed the problem! I swapped to an old keyboard from an old P.C and magically all of the F-keys work. I suspect it is because this keyboard doesnt have the stupid media controls set on the F-keys. Stupid computers..... I guess I will go buy a new keyboard cause this old think is big and clunky and I dont like it.
zacklaws Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Well thats what my keyboard is like, media keys set on the F keys, but it did take a while to fathom out I had a F lock key and which one it was. Perhaps yours is the same, as it seems stupid if its not possible to use the F keys for there normal purpose's
Jordan4 Posted September 23, 2012 Author Posted September 23, 2012 Is the F-lock key labeled? Or do you have to research to figure out which one it is?
zacklaws Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 The keyboard I have is a Microsoft Digital Pro, and the F lock button is top right, just underneath the LED's, the button is also labeled F Lock and has a small symbol with F on, despite that it took a while to discover it and work out what it does. The logic of the button seems to work the opposite way to what you would expect, I would have thought the F keys would work properly with it off and as media keys with it on, but its the opposite way round. The F keys work normally, when its on and is also indicated so by the corresponding LED which lights up. That might be a clue if you have an F lock key, does your keyboard have 4 LED's as opposed to the normal 3 LEDs?
paulygxD Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Similar issue. later update Sorry if this is A little too late, but i have been flying 1.2.7 beta to practice aerial refueling, and last night, I realized when I pulled up the comms menu, I was pressing f6 and nothing happens. Then I tried f2 and it jumped to an external view. None of the f-keys are working for the comms menu. I have no idea on a fix.:helpsmilie:
