A short video showing a manoeuvre in which the Royal Marines board a CH-47 Chinook during exercise: Joint Warrior.

 

Originally this boat boarding was intended to be a part of a bigger movie, but I realized that it didn't fit that well in the main story line. So I decided to separate it.

Nice video. How where you able to get those camera spots, like inside the chopper for example. And getting the chopper to hover above water like that?

The camera inside the Chinook is possible with F11 view.

 

I flew the Chinook, with a mod which makes every chopper flyable, but with KA-50 cockpit and flight model. However a couple of cool things work like opening the doors, illumination of exterior lights, gears.

Yes, it was a long long night, but eventually I got it right. Because it is not possible to sink into the water you have to hover above it. Too low and the rear wheels touch the water and you turn upside down or lose control anyways. Since the rear left wheel doesn't support the Chinook model, only the rear right.(just one of the flaws in the mod) And because it is still a Ka-50 I actually had to fly a bit backwards to get this nose high, rear low position.
