seikdel Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 (edited) Just installed 1.2.1. Every time I try to launch a Shark mission, it crashes with: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: dcs.exe Application Version: 1.2.1.5970 Application Timestamp: 50648537 Fault Module Name: CockpitBase.dll Fault Module Version: 1.2.1.5970 Fault Module Timestamp: 50620e97 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00000000000c3166 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: aec4 Additional Information 2: aec4de3b059066af594ad0dc012f1adb Additional Information 3: b0c0 Additional Information 4: b0c08c4e1aa52289e36b8596b14ebdca Not sure why. Also, when I tried the Gauntlet mission, when it crashed, it also told me I committed fratricide. Impressive, considering I didn't even see any combat =P Edit: forgot to attach dxdiag.txt. Anyone else have this issue? Edited October 1, 2012 by seikdel
Nate--IRL-- Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Try temporarily renaming your DCS users folder and try it again. C:\Users\<User Name>\Saved Games\DCS Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
seikdel Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Same error, but this time the launcher crashed right after the game. Nate--IRL-- Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Hmmm ok. Verify that the Ka-50 module is in the \\Mods folder in the DCS folder. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
seikdel Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Yes it is. Any specific files I should check for?
Nate--IRL-- Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 No - just checking it was installed. This is a strange issue, try the repair function in the DCS start menu entry - then delete the C:\Users\<User Name>\Saved Games\DCS (again) and try again. This gives the very base install of DCS which should have no problem running. If that still doesn't work I'd tend to try updating drivers and the like, but even then I couldn't be sure. seikdel Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Running the repair tool downloads some sort of update and then applies it. Strangely enough, when I delete my save folder, it says it has an update and then actually goes and "validates local files", which takes much longer than the several seconds the repair took. We'll see what happens after it finishes validating...
Nate--IRL-- Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Ok did the previous version work with out problems? A long shot, but try reinstalling the specific DirextX and Visual C++ in my sig. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
seikdel Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Yes, it worked without this problem. And...okay... I'll give it a shot in the hopes of getting my beloved Shark running...
Nate--IRL-- Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Will it load using the Su-25T? Are you sure you have the correct DCS 1.2.1 (Full/Upgrade) version of BS2 installed (not sure why I'm asking this but I'm out of ideas) Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
seikdel Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Yes, Su-25T works great. Yes, I'm using the Upgrade version (KA-50_bsupd_1.2.1.5970.exe).
Nate--IRL-- Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 OK I'm going to have to say I'm stumped. Other than trying new graphics card drivers I see no reason why this wouldn't work for you. Another long shot is try to disconnect all USB devices and try again. Also what are the terminal mouse and keyboard drivers? Try temporarily disabling them too. seikdel Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 Tried disconnecting everything except USB mouse (because my mobo doesn't have PS2) after updating the GPU drivers and disabling all application override settings. Same error. I really appreciate the help from those in the know. Is there anyone else I can take this to who can take it to another level?
Nate--IRL-- Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Try something for me - add an AI Ka-50 to a blank mission and use R-ALT J to jump into it after the mission has started. As I said I really am stumped as to the cause - you could try opening a support ticket in the main site, but I have a suspicion they are rather swamped right now. seikdel Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 Insta-crash when I try to jump in. Slightly different error, though: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: dcs.exe Application Version: 1.2.1.6055 Application Timestamp: 506ac04c Fault Module Name: CockpitBase.dll Fault Module Version: 1.2.1.6055 Fault Module Timestamp: 50620e97 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00000000000c3166 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 3d43 Additional Information 2: 3d432e3cd45624297e5508538e8286e1 Additional Information 3: 8f5c Additional Information 4: 8f5c01bc7d7299592a538634e93396be
seikdel Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Well, I've submitted a ticket. Hopefully this can get solved. Thanks all for the help thus far =)
seikdel Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 Well, the good news is that after another complete uninstall and freaking purge, I finally got BS2 working =) The bad news is I'm down an activation =(

Toast Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I seem to be having this same problem. I am going to try a fresh install. Toast Aviate, Navigate, Communicate. and When All Else Fails, Aviate More :pilotfly:
Cougar377 Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I seem to be having this same problem. I am going to try a fresh install. Same problem. Su25 is flyable, KA50 is not...:( So far tried complete uninstall, deleted all files/folders/registry entries and then re-install. BS1 to 2 + DSC World, patched to 1.21....still got the same problem. All it's done is use up another activation. Stumped.
Toast Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I uninstalled everything including previous standalone versions then I deleted ED folder and user/saved games/dcs folder then a fresh install of DSW world and the BS 2 mod. That worked! I had BS 1 but when BS 2 came out I bought the full version to support ED and this time it paid off since I didn't have to do the BS1 to BS2 thing. This did cost me an activation, but I did not deactivate prior to uninstall. Hope this helps! Toast Aviate, Navigate, Communicate. and When All Else Fails, Aviate More :pilotfly:
seikdel Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 What exactly did you do? Just for future reference. Nate Uninstalled (again), deleted the save directory (again), deleted the DCS World folder and then reinstalled. Apparently deleting the folder in Program Files did the trick. Except for losing the activation. But hey, it sounds like we're all out 1 activation this time around.
Nate--IRL-- Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 ED returned lost activations to everybody BTW. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
