marcos Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Having played DCS for a while I've noticed that AAA systems are quite hard to spot in the A-10, but when flying the Su-25T with an ELINT pod against NATO AAA, they all come up as a diamond, making them very easy to spot even in the camouflage of the Caucauses. Given the short range of AAA systems, is it not more prudent to use a passive infra-red/optical based system, unless it's on something like a ship that already has radars anyway?

And again IFF is necessary. Smart electronics could sort out the sun from the target, with electro-optical tracking possibly. The sun's light must be cut off slightly by the aircraft, so you look for the cooler spot. Edited October 23, 2012 by marcos
