Steelbreaker Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 (edited) Ok. As we all know many people are crying out for help because of these crashes. And I will say I have found that a few with 64Bit OS seem to think 32Bit OS is the reason why its crashing. I think this is just a bit of an egotistical attitude to adopt. So lets find out if it is just the 32Bitters if you like that experience the crashing, obviously not, but lets see how many crashers add up. State in the title what your OS is, are you a 32Bitter or are you a 64BitNobcheese. Thats just a little joke ;) Edited November 7, 2012 by Steelbreaker
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 7, 2012 ED Team Posted November 7, 2012 its not egotistical the fact is 32bit OS can not access as much memory as a 64bit OS and so is at a disadvantage from the start :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Steelbreaker Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 Yea I know just wanted to have some fun, but seems not many people want to state what their OS is and weather they are experiencing crashes. This would give us a good idea if this is in fact a detrimental factor to online play. But I dont mind upgrading to 64bit and buying 16GB of DDR3 memory. Im all for being a 64BITNobcheese :D But first Id like to see if I can play this online without that process. :book:
EtherealN Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Steelbreaker, there's nothing egotistical at all about it. There is a very specific reason why 64-bit OS is specified in the system recommendation. There is a reason why there are specific hacks for 32-bit users linked in mine and others signatures, and why said hacks are in the FAQs for these products. When people tell you 32-bit is prone to crashes, they have good reasons for it. To my mind, the only kind of system that should even think about running 32-bit nowadays is stuff like netbooks. ;) And I think that gives you the response to what my systems run. :) (Except for the netbook I'm using to write this, which is running a 32-bit XP, but aside from netbooks it's 5 years since I abandoned 32-bit systems. That adress space is just waay too limited.) Steelbreaker Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 Ok I dont suppose ED have a spare i7 lying around do they, I make a great cup a tea :megalol:
EtherealN Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Why would you need an i7? All hardware that meets the minimum system requirements is 64bit. If you can run the sim at all, crashes or not, your machine supports 64 bit.
