skflanker_ Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 A. Hawk 1. Su-25T destroed Hawk SR (Ch-58) 2. Su-25T destroed Hawk TR (cannon) Why Hawk LN fire missile and immediately missile explodes ... B. Gepard Why can't I fire Su-25T missile Ch-25MP on Gepard even though it has radar?
Cobra360 Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 A.) I think what happened is that the Hawk fired it's missile and was then destroyed, the missile needs a radar lock to find it's target and since the radar is gone the missile self destructs. It's a RL safety measure that once a missile looses guidance completly and has no other means of finding the target it destroys its self. B) The Gepard's radar needs to be on for your missile to guide on the radar emmisions. Anti-radar missiles need the source target to keep transmitting until impact unless you were using an AGM-88 which has a memory.
britgliderpilot Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 That suggestion for the Hawk is as good as any, not sure about that one. For the Gepard . . . . well, the radar you're firing at needs to be in the memory of your antiradar system. Can't remember whether it needs to be in the pod or the Kh58, but either way . . . . there's a number of systems in Loamc that the Russians don't have info on, so you can't fire at. Think the Gepard is one. Realism feature :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg

I don't think that is what's happening with the Hawk - I've seen a Kub site do the same thing, and it definitely looks like a bug. What happened was: I was flying the Su-25T and fired a pair of Kh-58s at the Kub's radar, destroying it. I then continued to fly towards the SAM site, and when I got within its launch range, it started trying to launch missiles at me. Of course, because it had no radar, they exploded almost immediately after launch. The bug seems to be that a SAM site will still try to launch missiles AFTER its radar has been destroyed. You can see in the attachments that the Kub is launching missiles, even though it has no radar.
Maverick-90 Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 maybe your SAMs were on exellent skill and only tried to chase you away?...... SA-11 (BUK) actually can do this (Infrared or Radar Back-Up System aboard Launch unit), but with the SA-6 (KUB) it looks like a bug ;-)
GGTharos Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Maybe you're flying too low - so they lose lock and explode. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
DropZone Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 I don't think that can be it, I was flying at 2000m. I recorded a track of it happening:kub_bug.rar
