that's because the rgb channel of dds is different from its alpha channel. Maybe they forgot to update the alpha channel accordingly.

Would anyone happen to know how I could use just the shkval textures from this mod? After downloading I see that everything is in dds format rather than the loose masks that other shkval mods provide.
