  1. Nothing else I've ever reported has yet to be fixed so I doubt this will, but this is entirely unplayable for me since the last updates I installed. I'm not sure if it's just me with this but my L and R eyes on the VIVE are rendering differently. The grass and clutter in the left eye is darker and seems more aliased compared to the right eye which seems more transparent or lighter? This is similar to the rather serious rendering bug which I reported some time ago, where low rotor RPM shows how the blades are also rendering differently between both eyes: one shows the motion blur effect on the blades, and the other shows the static, solid blades. Both the clutter and the rotors being rendered differently between both eyes is incredibly uncomfortable. Seeing a separate image between the two eyes makes this game nauseating. I'm sorry if this is just me for some bizarre reason, but if it's not.. do you guys have a VR headset at the dev office to actually test the game on? Because this could not have been overlooked as it's very obvious immediately.
  2. The red beacon on the underside of the Black Shark has had an issue with its rotation animation for ages now. I was wondering if anyone was even aware of it, and if it'll ever be fixed? I find it very obvious and it's annoying to see all the time especially in VR. The rotating beams of red light when on the ground clearly and noticeably jump at the completion of its rotation cycle animation (or however it's being rendered). I think it goes 180 degrees and then you see it jump. It looks like it's been misaligned somehow as I'm sure in the past it always looked correct. I'm sure this would be an extremely easy fix. Cheers!
  3. The speed at which engine turbines and rotor blades are rendered with the blur texture is different between the left and right eyes on my Vive. At lower RPMs the left eye sees the rotors without the blur texture, and the right one with. This looks very weird and feels uncomfortable.
  4. Hmm, I don't really appreciate the topic being moved to 'wishlist', where it'll never get an answer.
  5. Hey there guys, I have been wanting to to ask this for a really long time, but I always assumed that by now we would have a better graphical effect for the whirlybirds. I fly them pretty much exclusively and have been since BS1, and it always bothers me how they appear. Considering how excellent and modern the graphical effect for propellers on the fighters look I'm surprised there's not been a comparable upgrade to the rotors as well. There really needs to be at the least, a gradual transition to the blur model from the static one. I play in VR which is driving this point home for me even further, as they are immersion breaking especially at full speed. Due to their high-speed nature in the game, they are also very dependent on framerate which makes them look weird as the system performance fluctuates. They even switch to the blur model at different rates between the two eyes, so that on the left screen they are the solid blades, but in the right one they are blurry which is very uncomfortable to look at. I should probably post this in the bugs section as well. I would imagine the topic of rotor animation has come up before over the years but more attention needs to be paid towards it in my opinion. It doesn't seem like it would be super difficult to achieve. Cheers! Still the best simulator ever!
  6. Hey there, I'm a long-time user and a loyal customer with a number of modules already, but I wanted to post this just as some general feedback.. I'm growing very frustrated and disappointed at the rarity of websites to actually specify what currency they are displaying; I'm just assuming these are all for some reason in USD. Why is there no label to make it obvious? I've looked around and there is no mention anywhere that I can see. This is a big deal for somebody like me on a strict budget when it comes to actually paying only to discover that it will in fact cost more than I expected in AUD. Would implementing a selectable currency to display be such a big deal? Cheers.
  7. I've suddenly encountered this problem in Windows 10, within the last week or so. Before then it was fine and I always had the taskbar when I alt+tabbed out of DCS. Now, when I switch to another window, DCS World still covers taskbar. If I press the windows key it comes up, but then clicking on the other window makes the taskbar go back behind DCSW. Nothing has really changed on my system other than installing the W10 creators update and graphics drivers - but I don't know if either of these align with the timeframe. I also switched to the beta version, though I'm pretty sure it was still behaving this way prior.
  8. Still worked for me, brilliant tweak. Makes the game look fantastic with zero performance hit, thanks heaps!
  9. I meant the part about disabling the heading selector channel, I don't know if real Ka-50 pilots would fly it in this manner.
  10. Gee that's one of the best invitations I've ever had! Thanks mate. I sure would give my right arm to come and test that out, though unfortunately I live in Australia. But if I'm ever out that way I'll keep it in mind, haha. Something like that is a bit of a dream of mine too, if only to have the seat, vibration and motion simulators; you're a lucky guy!
  11. I agree with everything you said, Scooternutz! It sounds like we are much the same :) It's funny, right at the start I couldn't imagine memorising all of those switches for a cold start, it seemed overwhelming, yet now it's almost second-nature.. almost ridiculously easy to start her up. Compared to the other modules which are just banks of switches with an airframe attached, the Ka-50's cockpit is elegantly streamlined.
  12. Man, I can only imagine how awesome the Huey would be with a VR headset. Of course any of the aircraft would be, but the Huey looks especially fun to fly with one (and in general). I watched the other day and it really made me want to learn the aircraft and start flying it online. Even though I've had the module for ages I never got around to actually doing anything with it. In fact I have almost all of the modules but I just love the Ka50 too much to fly anything else, though I'm probably a little biased as I was flying this thing back when it was just "Black Shark", and there were dozens of serves filled with people all flying missions together.. and there weren't Spitfires flying alongside A10s and MiGs. Those were the golden days :) Anyway please excuse my fond ramblings.
  13. At first I was a little skeptical but wow, this is really cool. Excellent work and thanks for taking my beloved Ka50 in an interesting experimental direction. I wonder; there is a very useful mod that I've recently started using which displays laser temperature on the HUD (or some number which represents laser temperature). Would it be possible to take this data and have it displayed on the MFD? Also, do you foresee the ability of having clickable buttons around the frame? I don't have that many buttons available and I'd rather not have to try and map that many to my keyboard. Cheers!
  14. I'm pretty sure RedShot was just referring to the standard behavior of the laser. I use the mod for temperature indication as well and I found that it helps immensely for temperature management which does greatly extend the life of the emitter. A good thing to do is map the laser reset button to your HOTAS so that you can keep the time the laser is active to a bare minimum. As soon as you range a target, hit the reset. Same goes for the second your missile hits - the countdown after ranging and firing is actually the time until the laser disengages - don't wait for it to finish counting down. The range-and-reset process is pretty useful for when you're up against a hostile aircraft where you'll probably be firing the laser in quick succession as you try to get a lock. Even if you don't like the idea of the temp readout due to realism, it's probably worth at least checking it out just so that you can get a feel for this behavior.
  15. Pretty much, but this really doesn't make it boring or unexciting as there's a lot to do in the cockpit and it still takes skill to employ the chopper in a very effective way. Even with all the amazing autopilot functionality it's still quite a hands-on machine and the shooting part is only a small fraction of the fun I get from the Ka50; the main enjoyment and satisfaction is actually flying smoothly to the target, tactically finding that good spot, scouting the location and relaying targets and coordinating with your wing (labels off to make this even more fun). It takes quite a while and a lot of practice to really get to know all of its quirks and characteristics which makes it feel very real and believable, but then once you do the real fun starts as you become an unstoppable killing machine. It's probably the most effective offensive aircraft in the game so far, I tend to be able to rack up quite a lot of kills with minimal risk. Though having said that, there are some great missions where you also have to watch out for hostile aircraft and tanks aiming non-laser-guided weapons towards you which will offer no warning, not to mention frantically trying to lock onto a hostile helicopter flying towards you and get a missile off before they do. Being down in the thick of things with something of an analog bird can get very exciting!
  16. Yeah, the most effective way to get what you want is to set the DT/DH switch to the centred position and re-trim. If you then enable route mode it'll hold that heading as well as speed while maintaining level flight. I believe this is referred to as 'route without task'. I find this to be the most reliable autopilot configuration for most dynamic multiplayer missions where there's a long flight to the target area. A good tip is also to map the Heading AP channel (or all of them) to a key and disable it long enough make course adjustments before re-trimming and re-enabling. This saves having to touch the trimmer without having to also fight the AP as it tries to return to the previous heading, making course adjustments a lot smoother and quicker. This might not be too realistic but it works for me.
  17. Strange, this is always an option by default in the Ka50. I assume you've tried switching mouse-click mode off with Alt+C? To check the configs though, try going to Axis Assign and looking for Camera Zoom View
  18. Frederf is right the HSI merely displays information, it doesn't actually feed information into the autopilot. I'd guess the manual mode would be used as a fallback for some kind of nav systems failure, or to use as a directional guide for a manually-entered desired heading without ABRIS reference, though I'm afraid I don't know for sure.
  19. Would anyone happen to know how I could use just the shkval textures from this mod? After downloading I see that everything is in dds format rather than the loose masks that other shkval mods provide.
  20. Actually all of the forward rectangular lights are really blurry; Rotor RPM, etc. Cheers. Edit: I gave Ricardo's blue cockpit mod a go and wow, what an awesome piece of work! I love it, and luckily the alert panels are much clearer at further distances. Thanks very much for all of your work!
  21. Hey guys, I just wanted to post and ask this as I've always had this problem with the mod. Years ago I tried the mod for a while and I think I just reverted back to vanilla. Now I have gotten back into the Ka50 and thought I'd get this mod again as it is a beautiful piece of work, and so much better than stock. For some reason though, all of the upper lights on the alert panel are severely blurry when your view is far enough back to be comfortable. In fact, in order to get the text to appear clear, you have to have your head uncomfortably close. it seems like some kind of anisotropic filtering issue but the original lights are perfectly fine. I can't be the only person in the world who has this issue, what gives? Cheers for any help.
  22. Yeah this is a real bummer, I have a wicked PC but the ATGM smoke reduces things to a mini slideshow. I never used to have this problem flying the Black Shark. Edit: Just changing the res of cockpit displays to 512 Every Frame has actually solved the problem. Surprisingly I even kind of like the slightly softer clarity of the sensor screen.
  23. This worked perfectly, thanks guys. Seems really obvious now, but I didn't expect it to be that easy and straight-forward/automatic. This new engine is amazing, and plays so beautifully on my new system. See you out there!
  24. Thank you so much for the helpful responses guys, I really appreciate it :) I'll give this a go and report back with my results. Happy flying!
