Repairing

Has the procedure for repairing a damaged airframe changed at all recently? The way I have always understood it was come to a stop anywhere off the runway or on the ramp. Turn on ground power and then cut engines. Countdown timer to repair should start.

 

The last couple of times I have tried this I got no countdown and it never repaired. Now I can't recall which airport I was at at the time and I do realize that there are some that don't allow repairs. That's why I wanted to double-check to see if anything had changed or if I am simply doing it wrong.

I play different aircraft be it FC2 or DCS. I find just getting to a parking space to a designated airfield that does repair, I shut down both engines (if two) and open the canopy suffices. In FC2 and the Stallturn server there is no countdown window but in about 5 minutes or less, a repair will occur. Then refuel or rearm.

 

I find the repair can occur damaged on the runway or the boat. But refuelling or rearming I need to be on the tarmac at a parking space.

 

I have seen guys just pull off the runway or the end of the runway to refuel or rearm.

 

I have not played DCS much in awhile. DCS is rather unforgiving if you are in the grass after a repair.

park on the ramp of an airport that has a friendly vehicle on it, shut down the engines, switch to INT, call the ground crew and it should work. You can also open the canopy for it to work.

Yep, there is a new option in the ground crew com menu (F8).

Without the request for repair, nobody will move a muscle to get you airworthy again.

 

And you still have to shut down the engines.

Not sure this is still true. Since we have to option to choose a side for each airbase I think you don't need to have any friendly vehicles on it.
