I don't know how GregP does things, I assume he just uses his 4th screen as a touch screen and presses buttons on the virtual cockpit that way?

I do that in some sims where something like helios is not an option. It works well and I could imagine with DCS and a combination of snap views that it could work really well by placing the console areas on the touchscreen in an easy to press orientation.

I see PeterP already answered your question by posting my video, but just to confirm, yes, I use the 4th as the sole means of interacting with the VC.

The only thing I dont like about spanning the view/VC across my smaller touchscreen is that the view also goes there and it sometimes looks strange as it spans from the larger monitor above to the smaller below. Often it lines up very well and gives a very strange 3D effect as the smaller screen is closer. Not sure I like that a lot.

Yup, I know exactly what you mean. It does take some getting used to. As my upper screen is 27" and lower touchscreen is 22", normally the lower view would tend to look "squished" as I'd be trying to squeeze that same 1080 horizontal resolution onto a smaller monitor ... but since the touchscreen is actually a few inches in front of the vertical plane in which the 27" is in, it actually lines up quite nicely. However, the downside, as you point out, is that you're looking at two different vertical planes. I'm used to it now, but admittedly it was fairly jarring at first.

I never even considered a PLP setup until seeing this thread, and I have to admit that would seem to feel and look even cooler than what I am pretty happy with right now. The main thing holding me back from trying it, though, is that it would mess up every other game that I play in Eyefinity -- which is a lot. Unfortunately my current setup does not have any easy way to switch between P and L orientation, so rotating them based on the game I'm playing at the time isn't practical. Maybe I need to look into finding a way to do that though. :)

Yes, I use softTH

I believe so, I need to double check shortly this evening.

Are you saying that with "keep composition" enabled, then when I enable "disable aero theme" in game settings this will fix the issue with clicking buttons on the popup menu ?

Or based on helios issues?

Hang on. Are you using softth? I didn't see that.

You need to make sure that in the main section of your sffth config you have keepComposition=1

Thats why you cant click on the quit button as well because your aero is turned off. That is a known bug because aero is turned off. (the cant quit thing)

Whats happening is that softth is overriding DCS and turning off aero. So, while you need to uncheck 'disable aero theme' so dcs doesnt turn it off you also need to make sure keepComposition=1 so that softth doesnt turn it off either.

This will fix your problem of not being ane to quit and should keep a good framerate with helios running.

The fact that helios is slow and that you have the quit bug which only happens with aero off proves that something is turning it off - most likely softth.

Found the issue, although it would ne nicer to be smoother its better now. Somehow the update interval in the helios profile settings was set to '4', I raised this to 30. Now another thing is to get Dcs Easy Monitor config to get these export positions right without constantly fiddling with numbers.

Working better now with PLP(P).
